Guest guest
Hi, Apologies for remaining silent for so long again - I will join in when I feel I have something relevant to say, but otherwise I just enjoy the ongoing exchanges. As regards the question on sticky eyes, I feel I have to comment in my capacity as a pharmacist on this one.Allergies and infections of the eye can often display very similar symptoms- inflammation, irritation, discomfort and excess tear production, however, the deciding factor is the prescence of any pus. This is an indication of an infection rather than an allergy.I certainly would never recommend direct use of any oils in the eye, but lavender could be used to soothe around the eyes as long as it is well diluted. An appropriate means of application would be to dilute lavender well in boiled and cooled water, keep the solution in the fridge and soak cotton wool pads to apply to the eyes.It won't clear up the infection - I'm afraid antibiotic drops/ointment are necessary for treatment - but it will certainly relieve the discomfort. Hope this info is helpful, Hazel (Scotland)
