Guest guest
Hi Moira Lavender is good. Maybe the oils you've been using are a bit stimulating for last thing at night (eucalyptus, peppermint and red thyme) so you don't sleep so well. I'd suggest a lavender with a camphoraceous note (some 1,8 cineole in it); local ones are good, Moira. Lavender would also help you sleep. Basil can be good too, though I'm not keen on the exotic ones with a lot of methyl chavicol. You could also mix some camomile and lavender (good pain relievers) into a cream or gel to smooth onto your face before you go to sleep. Guest guest
Hi Moira, I found a recipe for a sinusitis balm in a Chrissie Wildwood book that you might find useful. The recipe is 8 drops eucalyptus, 2 drops peppermint in 1 dessertspoonful of vaseline (petroleum jelly) Melt the vaseline in a bowl over simmering water, remove from heat and add eos, stir and put in a storage jar. Add a small amount to the nostrils. The vaseline may seem strange but it just acts as a carrier that traps the eos and allows them to be inhaled over a longer period than other methods. It also traps dust before it can be inhaled and aggravate the sinus. It might help you to get a good night`s sleep. You could substitute other eos that you`ve found useful. I haven`t used this particular recipe myself but I have used the vaseline in other recipies and have found it useful in extending the period of the oils working. Joyce. Ireland. Self-thought amateur. Guest guest
Hi Helen You're absolutely right about the stimulating oils! I was so busy trying to find something to relieve the pain that I clean forgot about that. I think I'm going to try Joyce's recipe for the sinus during the day and use the lavender and camomile at night. Thanks Moira du Toit Johannesburg [AX] sinusitis > Hi Moira > Lavender is good.
