Guest guest
HI- I need some help. I'm really hoping that someone here will have some good news for me. I have been recently diagnosed with Lichen Sclerosis- a skin disease, primarily of the vulvar region. It is non contagious, and is incurable but controllable with high powered steroid creams. It is considered a pre- cancerous condition and possibly an auto-immune disease. Has any one ever heard of this? If so, do you know of any eo's that might be effective in treating this condition? ( Or any other alternative therapies, for that matter). I've spent hours searching the internet for info and can find only traditional medical treatments: the steroid therapy and testosterone therapy( I'm definitely not going the testosterone route- I WILL NOT be the local bearded lady - LOL. Currently I am trying the Chlorbetasol prescribed by my GYN. My gynecologist is concerned because I am considered young (44) to have this condition. It usually shows up in much older women. Thanks for any info any of you might have, and for your help. Bobbi
Guest guest
Hi Bobbi, Don't know where you live, but have you considered a Naturopathic Doctor (or maybe an Osteopathic Doctor) as one way to help balance out the auto-immune functions of your body? Starting with Liver cleansing and such. Just an idea. Lynn Steve & Bobbi Fabrycky [fab7] Friday, September 22, 2000 2:16 PM [AX] Re: Help with condition HI- I need some help. Guest guest
Bobbi- Actually, I never heard of lichen sclerosis, but looked for an answer in Susun S. Weed's book: " Menapausal Years, The Wise Woman Way - Alternative Approaches for Women 30-90 " . If you can get access to the book look at page 133 and sure enough lichen sclerosis is mentioned along with several other vulva and vaginal conditions. Susan lists relaxation and visualization exercises, homeopathic remedies, supplements, etc. that may help. I agree with the suggestion to consult a Homeopathic physician or Naturopath. If you can't locate the book, let me know and I'll send you more information. She says to avoid soaps, douches. bubblebaths, nylon underwear and panty hose. Good luck.
