Guest guest
Hi Linda < What do you do Helen?> I've been an aromatherapist for 14 years. A colleague and I started the Association of Aromatherapists Southern Africa in 1991; at that time we and others set up a volunteer system working at Groote Schuur hospital with the leukemia patients and also at the hospice, where members have to undergo the hospice training programme. This volunteer system has now expanded to treat cerebral palsy children, HIV+ children, babies, and adults; policemen, mentally challenged people, other hospices and so on. My colleague and I also had a school for 9 years and taught aromatherapy professionally. Now I occasionally teach short introductory courses. I still have my practice and see people in the evenings and at weekends, but also work full-time now for a holistic/alternative living magazine (aromatherapy isn't a big money-spinner!). So if someone asks me what I do, I'm an aromatherapist first and foremost - only later do I remember that 9-5 job!
