Guest guest
Hi Nerys, First I have to say you sound like a strong and brave woman!! I am in a similar situation with my husband, he can work part time but frequent illnesses prevent him from keeping appointments and going to work sometimes. I pray that he will not get to the point where he needs full-time rest/care. He has a bad back with one unsuccessful surgery; hypothyroid; depression; and I suspect candida and allergies. I was thinking it was his medications responsible for the nightmares. He takes Neurontin, Norco, Methadose, and Synthroid. He has severe muscle spasms and trembling which may be caused by the meds but we're not sure. He wakes up frequently calling my name, last night it was " someone help me, someone help me, " and he was crying in his sleep. It just breaks my heart. I have got him to start addressing some of these other issues but I really have to nag to get him to the doctor. I had to go with him for his first thyroid check or he never would have gone through with it. It's a vicious cycle where the meds and his illness create a lack of motivation to make his life better-- As far as sleep suggestions his doctor told him to try to stay awake during the day so he can normalize his sleep schedule and sleep better at night. It's not working well. I'm new on this list and my husband is the main reason for my interest. He won't take a lot of supplements or try healthy diets but he would accept aromatherapy. I just started working at Vitamin World and they have some aromatherapy oils & a book which I started reading on a slow evening. Good luck Nerys! If you ever want to talk off list just email. He sleeps a lot during the day and at night, but is in a constant dream state, does not achieve that deep sleep, he has been having nightmares and very frustrating dreams which he is waking up sweating and scared from
Guest guest
Dear Nerys, I would like to give you some information about which constituent of the EO might trigger an Epileptic convulsion. The Aromatherapy Practitioner Reference Manual quotes the following constituents said to cause convulsions in very high dose : thujone (ketone) :sage, mugwort, tansy, thuja, wormwood, hyssop pulegone (ketone) : pennyroyal methyl nonyl ketone : rue asarone (phenol) : calamus ascaridole (oxide) : boldo, wormseed methyl salicylate (ester) : wintergreen myristicin : nutmeg, aniseed, sage, parsley, fennel It says as well that the powerful stimulating oils like camphor, peppermint, rosemary are to be avoided. Research showed, that relaxing oils have been shown to reduce frequency of attacks. Therefore it is advisible to use relaxing oils for those that are prone to epilepsy. During my course in Aromatherapy,we lernt, that Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea) is an anti-epileptic oil. But it has to be used in low dose and it has some contra indications : Large dose can induce narcotic effect, headaches. Avoid during pregnancy. Avoid with endometriosis, breast, ovarian & uterine cysts & other estrogens depending conditions (cancer). I am sending you light, and hope you find soon an explaination to your husbands conditions.
