Cedarleaf oil/Thuja occidentalis is listed as severely toxic both to the liver

and

the nervous system. Tisserand & Balacs suggest that it should not be used in

therapy, either internally or externally. This is because of its constituents,

31-65% alpha-thujone, 8-15% beta-thujone, 7-15% fenchone and 2-3% camphor.

But as you say, maybe the lye process of soapmaking renders it harmless. I

don't

know anything about soapmaking, so can't help you there.
