Guest guest
Hello All, When I first started working in the aromatherapy industry 7 years ago, my biggest challenge was trying to pick out which oils went with each other for basic blends, and trying not to kill those around me with the horrible scents I first created! (One time, I had to open every window in my house to get rid of the awful odor!) By trial, error, reading every book I could get my hands on, and advice by those who had been using the oils for years I finally became the mad alchemist and was happy with my basic little blends. The following are easy aromatherapy blends that I thought I'd share with everyone. I haven't listed how many drops of each oil to use, as everyone's nose and preferences are different - and I think everone should experience being a mad alchemist from time to time! (Although you would use less Rose, Tuberose and Vanilla as they are very potent scents.) Aromatic regards, Kimberly Uplifting Blends: 1. Grapefruit (Citrus paradis) Rose Absolute (Rose centifolia) 2. Orange (Citrus sinenis) Vanilla (Vanilla planifolia) Energizing Blends: 1. Peppermint (Mentha x piperita) Lemon (Citrus limon) Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) Spearmint (Mentha viridas) 2. Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus) Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) Calming & Cooling (great for summer!) Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) Peppermint (Mentha x piperita) Destress & Relaxation: 1. Roman Chamomile (Chamamaelum nobile) Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) 2. Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia) Orange (Citrus senenis) Ylang ylang (Canaga odorata) PMS: 1. Clary sage (Salvia sclarea) Mandarin (Citrus reticulatal) Bergamot (Citrus bergamial) 2. Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) #2 is also great for menapausal women who experience hot flashes. Peppermint could also be added to this blend, mixed in a witch hazel base as a spritzer and kept refrigerated. Purification: Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) Eucalyputs (Eucalyptus globulus) Euphoric: Tuberose (Polyanthes tuberosa) Vanilla (Vanilla planifolia) Basic blending guidelines are: For the bath, add no more than 15 drops of essential oil to unscented bath salts or bath oil, add just prior to entering the tub. Massage oil - up to 10 drops of combined essential oils per ounce of carrier oil. For perfume, up to 10 drops of combined essential oils for every ounce of jojoba oil or Vodka. For Spritzers, up to 10 drops of combined essential oils for every ounce of witch hazel. Ceramic Diffuser blends - Up to 20 drops of combined essential oils with water. Note: Rose Absolute, Tuberose and Vanilla are very costly oils. They can be purchased in a 5-10% jojoba based oil, that works very well in aromatherapy blends and is very affordable when purchased this way. If you'd like a reputable source for these oils, please email me privately.
