Hi Sherri

Pendulums can be useful to check out an essential oil blend. Use anything you

like

as a pendulum, a safety pin on a bit of string will do. First hold it over your

palm and say to it, my name is Sherri. It will swing in a particular way. Then

say

to it, my name is ... Fred ... or something. It should swing another way. Then

you

will have a 'yes' and a 'no' answer. Once you have established which swing is

'yes'

for you, you can use it to ask any question that has a yes or no answer. If it

stays still, then you need to change the question.

Now, if you have chosen, say, lavender and rose for client X, you can hold the

pendulum over your bottles of lavender and rose and say, is this right for

Client X?

Then ask, is there anything else I should add? Another essential oil? Another

carrier, some colour, some crystal, some flower remedy, etc.? I think you have

to

have some knowledge of what to choose in the first place, but the pendulum does

help

to clarify the situation.

As all aromatherapists, reflexologists and reiki practitioners in South Africa

have

just been accused of practising demonic arts and the occult (!), I must say that

I

am careful of when exactly I use a pendulum in front of my clients. Some are

just

not open to this kind of thing, and I respect that. It's not actually part of

aromatherapy, just something I might do sometimes.

Enjoy!

Helen in Cape Town
