Ooops - I'm too new I guess - check it out with a pendulum? Can you give us

a little on that? I know there's lots of other even newer newbies that might

need to know, too.

Hi Sherri

Here is some info about pendulums. I'll also include a web site that has a

picture of one but it may not be allowed within the guidelines of this

newsgroup although I have no axe to grind for this particular site - just

found it in my travels one day and it happened to be the same as the one I

bought from my local health shop. Anyway, just in case, I have copied the

explanation given on that site between the ******** below.

*******************************

QUESTION: What is a pendulum? ANSWER: A pendulum is a weight suspended by a

string held between thumb and index finger. QUESTION: What can a pendulum

do? ANSWER: The pendulum has a mystical ability to make subtle mental

changes visible by changing its swinging patterns. QUESTION: How does this

work? ANSWER: There are many theories, both ancient and modern. The pendulum

is a device of extraordinary balance and seems to react to knowledge which

is not yet in the conscious mind. Almost any person, after a short time, can

control the pendulum with his/her mind.

I do have a pendulum like the one in the picture but that's only because I

like it. A pendulum can be anything attached to a piece of cotton/chain or

whatever - like a crystal or a pendant or a ring ... something like that.

I've even used a keyring in the past. The pendulum will swing clockwise,

anti-clockwise, forward and back or side to side depending on the answer.

First you have to find out what is " yes " " no " and " don't know " for you. You

do this by holding the pendulum and saying the word " yes " out loud. Rest

your elbow on the table to keep your hand steady. Eventually the pendulum

will start to swing in a particular direction. Make a note of that and then

try " no " and " don't know " . It can be different for different people. My

" yes " is clockwise, " no " anti-clockwise and " don't know " back/forth. My

husband's " yes/no " is the opposite with his " don't know " being side to side.

Once this is established you can ask it questions. For instance by holding

a bottle of EO in your hand and saying " is this good for me today " . I have

even used one with my EO bottles in a circle and in this case the pendulum

will swing back and forth over the one that is right. It may sound rather

bizarre but I tell you it works. It works I guess in the same way that

kinesiology or muscle testing works, where a question is asked and the

muscle will hold strongly for " yes " and not hold for " no " . It's good to

start with something quite light as your pendulum because it will move more

easily. It takes a little bit of practice. Once you've worked out your

directions, ask a question you KNOW is a " yes " and so on to test it out.

Once you've got it working then you need to try and clear your mind before

asking a question to avoid consciously influencing the movement.

I use it a lot for myself and for doing oil blends as a confirmation of

whether a particular oil is good for a particular person because so many

oils have similar healing properties. I have used it to decide what oils to

put into hand/face lotions for gifts for friends, where I like different

smells to them. A classic is where I did one for two friends who share a

house. They each love the smell of their own lotion but hate the smell of

the other person's. I did this by thinking about the person and using my

instinct and testing with the pendulum to make a choice.

Just another alternative way of doing things I guess to enhance all the

written material that's available. :)

Cheers
