Guest guest
Hi Melanie, Here' s little info on Vetiver. Plant Origin: Haiti, India Action: Antiseptic, antispasmodic, calming, grounding, sedative (nervous system), stimulant (circulatory, production of red corpuscles). Traditional uses: it is well known for its anti-inflammatory properties and traditionally used for arthritic symptoms. Other uses: Vetiver may help acne, anxiety, arthritis, cuts, depression (including postpartum), insomnia, rheumatism, stress, skin care (oily, aging, tired, irritated). Fragrant Influence: Vetiver has a heavy, earthy fragrance similar to patchouly with a touch of lemon. It is psychologically grounding, calming, and stabilizing. It can help us cope with stress and recover from emotional traumas and shocks. Companion oils: good with Clary sage, jasmine, lavender, patchouly, rose, sandalwood and ylang ylang. Personal note: I relate this more to sandalwood in aroma. It is a very thick/dense oil ... very slow moving. I use this on my mother-in-law for her rheumatism with a couple other oils and it definitely brings relief. I love it for its earthy scent. It is very soothing to me and sometimes I will use a drop before I sleep for its calming effect. Happy Holidays, Lynn Melanie Booth [melanie] Thursday, December 16, 1999 10:52 AM [AX] Re Insomnia I think I might try Vetiver(t) in the New Year (Vetiveria zizanoides). I read that it was the oil of tranquillity, but I know little else about it. Any one else know anything? - thank you. Is Benzoin also good then, Eva? Wish you all a happy festive season Love Melanie
