Guest guest
Everyone, Thanks for the advice on what oils and subjects should be covered when teaching a community class! You all are so great. I plan on using tea tree, lavender, peppermint, mandarin or tangerine and eucalyptus radiata to start with. I will certainly bring more oils along for sampling purposes and they can even purchase them if they're interested. Now, another question? Does anybody actively practice aromatherapy in their town? How do you do it? Do you rent space in a massage therapist's office, do you lecture to people, do you advertise? I have been practicing by word-of- mouth only for years, and now while working on my Ph.D. in naturopathy, I would like to practice it and make some money at it. Y'all take care! Both of us use the oils as an adjunct to our work. Over the years I have tried advertising and sometimes it paid off and sometimes all I got was a tax write off! (HAHA) I have gotten better response by putting up business cards/flyers on the bulletin boards of local coffee shops and stores. Since I run a retail bead business I sell the oils as a side at shows. I always have a table of information - TIP: Only put out 4 flyers, handouts, etc. with a stack of your business cards. People will pick up anything when there is a large stack, but will hesitate to pick up something if there are only a few available, hence they will actually look at and read maybe. I watched a lady pick up one each of my flyers - different colored - hand them to her kids with crayons, telling them to sit and color on the backs. She proceeded to shop other boths around me. My copy fees have decreased by 30% when I limited the amount on the table. Restock as needed. I also put out a contact log - for those who wish to make appointments fot sessions later, as well as a mailing list. Wish you well on your adventure!! I'd often wondered if this would work and now I feel even better about what I can do and still keep costs low. I've often seen folks do the same with my stuff and feel a bit frustrated. Now I get to plan for the new year! Happy Holidays to one and all, Lynn
