Guest guest
Hi Stacey! Hope you're all healed by now. I've taught a couple beginning classes. I try to stick to basics such as Lavender, Peppermint, Lemon, Eucalyptus and Ylang Ylang or Patchouly. I've even brought out the Geranium just for fun. The modern history of essential oils, beginning with the French chemist, Rene-Maurice Gattefosse, Ph.d., Jean Valnet, MD, etc. I always mentioned how 'healing oils' / 'holy anointing oils' are mentioned 88 times in the Bible. Then to modern uses for skin care, perfume's etc. I mention how in parts of Europe, etc. essential oils are 'prescribed' for medical use topically and internally. Since you have four hours you can really have some fun! Good on you!!!! You're spreading the word of the healthful values of essential oils! Have fun! Guest guest
Does anybody teach aromatherapy in their community? I am getting ready to teach my first class in the local junior college, for their community education division. The introductory course is going to be focused on some household uses of the oils, plus some on the basic personal uses of the oils. Has everyone ever taught, and if not, what subjects (recipes, etc.) do you think should not be overlooked? I plan to teach for 2 hours twice (4 hours total) for my first class, so that's about as much time as I have. I want to include 5 bottles of oils along with the class along with a spritzer bottle so they can mix their own room spritzer to begin with. Later I will be given the opportunity to have an intermediate and advanced class. Does anybody have any input? StaceyB
Guest guest
Good morning Stacey, What 5 oils do you plan to cover - I would build the class around those. What you have listed below sounds good. I would a give a sentence or two of historical use, maybe any legends connected with particular oils - spice up interest in class as everyone loves stories - these can be in handouts and mentioned in class. > Has everyone ever taught, and if not, what subjects (recipes, etc.) do you think > should not be overlooked? Here is a quick and easy recipe: Makes great gifts APRIL SHOWERS 1/2 cup liquid soap 1 teaspoon almond or sesame oil 4 drops essential oil (see suggestions below) Mix together all ingredients and stir well. Pour into a clean plastic container (safer than glass in the shower). Suggested Shower Gel Scents -- Relaxing - choose one or combination of two or three: Chamomile Neroli Rose Lavender Ylang-ylang Energizing - choose one or combination of two or three: Bergamont Geranium Juniper Eucalytus Rosemary Lemongrass Yield: 4 ounces This comes from NATURAL BEAUTY FOR ALL SEASONS - Janice Cox, page 116 --ISBN 080546550 Hope this helps.
