Dear Melanie;

Thank you for this infor. What does n & sh mean? Nose and shoulder?

Re: question of sandalwood, I do not find this helps much. But people are so

different--I think it is worth an experiment. Dianna Pierce wrote about

Angelica. (Thank you, Dianna---you have some wonderful combinations and I am

grateful for your suggestions.) I think this is a good oil. I think the

grounding oils are good for a racing mind--so the oils chosen are probably

best suited to what is keeping one up. I read that benzoin is good for an old

problem which is keeping one up---this seems to help me as well--I believe I

need grounding.

I am travelling on Wednesday. Has anyone had good results from jet lag from

any oil?

Thanks everyone. I really enjoy this list. I am finding myself experimenting

more and more due to the imput and enthusiasm of all of you.

Best wishes for a happy holiday;

Eva

Dear Susan;

I have terrible insomnia. I am trying to find the root cause. I worry when

you write " serious'-----though not getting enough sleep is truly serious.

Every night I pray to sleep and go through many ceremonies to help it happen.

My worst problem is falling asleep and then waking. After waking the oils do

not work as well.

Any further info. would be appreciated.

Thanks;

Eva

Here's what I travel with; peppermint and rosemary (to keep me

mentally alert), and when I'm ready to rest either ylang ylang,

sandalwood, jasmine. Since I love to travel, I normally carry as

many as I'm willing to hand check. :)

Happy Traveling and Best wishes to you and yours this holiday season,

Lynn

Dear Eva, Not knowing much here one of the things I question is

'when' did the insomnia begin. Also, sometimes as we age our sleep

patterns change. Root Cause can be easier than first thought to find.

But then it might not be! Something as off the wall as a bad day

followed by a blood sugar drop and just the right moment that happens

to intersect with another 'bad' experience can cause all kinds of

havoc! This is the kind of stuff that can lead to phobias and other

types of compulsive thinking/behavior. My heart goes out to folks who

'just can't sleep'. On the rare times I have so much on my mind that

I just can't shut it off it is very frustrating. Some of the

strangest things can be root cause and you can be guaranteed that it's

based in some kind of fear, anger, frustration, or things that have

not found any kind of completion. Sometimes the mind will just keep

us going in circles looking for some remote type of resolution.

Regression Therapy can be very helpful with a good Hypnotherapist.

Should you choose this route, take your favorite essential oil with

you to the session. Or at least your favorite for that day! :)

however, you work this out, please keep a journal of all that you

experience through this process. It may prove to be one of the most

valuable parts of finding a resolution to this situation.

I too am interested in how Susan will respond to this as well as Moira

and Helen.

Blessings on you and yours ~ in all ways,

Lynn

I concur with Susan about seeing a doctor and getting a diagnosis re

insomnia.

Mine is part of the group of stuff folks with fibromyalgia syndrome deal

with. My rheumatologist in late September suggested I try SAM-e which helps

the body make serotonin. What a difference this has made for me. Deep

continuous sleep for six whole hours straight for the first time in decades.

I have also found very small doses of melatonin helpful.

Seasonal Affective Disorder can partner with insomnia. Very bright light

for a couple of hours in the early morning can help here.

Sleep deeply and warm and snug.
