Guest guest
Hi! I love Clary Sage and have used it often...though now I am going to restrict my use of it until there is some further research into it. Currently I am waiting for some info on Clary Sage...there seems to be a possibility that Clary Sage can promote the growth of fibroids in women....this info was posted on another list. The person who posted this learned of it during a class presentation...I wrote to her and she is going to try and get the info...with referrances. Someone else had posted of knowing of a similliar incident...so till something can be proved or disproved...I personally will stay away from my beloved Clary I do not know if the problem comes from inhaling or dermal application...nor do I know if it will cause you to develop fibroids..it seems these women had the fibroids prior to using...they just gre bigger and required surgery. I know there are a few others...here...from that listing...as I have been having trouble receiving all of the postings there...maybe you would have something to add to this? Take Care! Guest guest
Hi Jen, I currently studying a course in Anatomy & Physiology, Body Massage, and Clinical Aromatherapy, but as I've only been studying for 4-5 months I may not have all the answers. As I see it Fibroids are tumours which tend to grow in response to excess oestrogen levels and shrink after menopause. Fibroids are the most common pelvic neoplasm and occur in about 30% of women over age 35. Now Clary Sage is thought to have oestrogen like properties and this is where the link is probably being made with fibroids. I have consulted several of my aromatherapy books (Essential oil safety, Tisserand/Balacs; Aromatherapy for health professionals, Price/Price; Medical Aromatherapy, Kurt Schnaubelt) and I could not find anything to say that Clary Sage would promote fibroids. There was just one line in Medical Aromatherapy which said " Caution: May cause complications with conditions sensitive to oestrogen " . I hope this is of some help, Gary - <Jeninct2 > I love Clary Sage and have used it often...though > now I am going to restrict my use of it until there is > some further research into it. Guest guest
Hi Ginny, I use clary sage quiet a bit in the bath, mixing it with valerian which has a lovely sedative effective after a hard day and I also use it in massage with chamomile, both blends are just bliss. Blessings Karen in the UK.
