Hello list...this short introduction a request for information. I am a 50

year old New Yorker who just recently became widowed. I have been using

essential oils off and on for about 2 years for my own enjoyment., using

books as references. Anyway, my request is does someone know of a blend I can

use to rid a room of that " sickroom " smell? My husband, who was 21+ years my

senior, had been ill for the last 10 years or so..diabetes,heart

conditon,etc...The room acquired that terrible odor. He would not allow me to

use anything in there while he was alive. I do need something to help get rid

of the odor as cleaning did very little to alleviate the condition. Any

suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and I do love this list.

Hi Margie!

White vinegar is reported to get rid of any scent....even animal scents. we

use it in our rinse water when washing the floors that aren't wood.

Take Care!

And, i tablespoon of bleach in 1 gal of water makes a good disinfectant, a

touch of tea tree oil helps too

Dear Margie,

A blend of any of the citrus oils should do the trick. I personally would

use Lemon and Orange (alternating) and when the odour began to subside

(which should be fairly soon) I'd start using good ole Lavender to sweeten

everything up. Geranium also, to help alleviate the emotional residue along

with YlangYlang. You've been through a lot and you need time to clear out

all that you've been through. When my mother died of diabetes and it's

complications 10 years ago I didn't know about essential oils. Then I used

incense, but it took more time. My father always appreciated whatever was

done to get rid of that lingering smell. If I'd had the oils it wouldn't

have taken any time at all.

Also, if you like Geranium, Lavender, Frankincense, Tangerine (any/all) it

might be nice to use them for yourself as they help lift the spirit and

bring a new sense of balance and ease.

Wishing you well in all ways,
