Hi April,

Wouldn't an " Avon Lady " or " Fuller Brush " carrying case work where the

bag is hard sided with a square top that folds out generously? What do

pharmaceutical salesmen use to protect their wares?

Hi Everyone!

I'm new to the list and would like to introduce myself. My name is

April Morelli and I live in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada. Our town is

famous for dinosaurs--when you visit, they are everywhere--pictured on

the side of walls, murals, statues, and the biggest Paleontology museum

in the World--the Tyrell Museum.

I was happy when Tracy invited me to join the list. I currently have

taken a brief seminar on aromatherapy, and have about 20 books on

aromatherapy. I love to read!! My interest first arose when I learned

about the therapeutic benefits. My mother has CFS and Fibromyalgia.

The mainstread medical community sure hasn't helped much, so I do as

much research into the " alternative " or " complementary " medicine. I've

really enjoyed the informations shared on this list so far. Thanks!

When I started getting used to creating blends, I found I enjoyed it so

much, and when I give friends and family face and neck/shoulder

massages, they all rave about how it helps. It relaxes me to do it! I

have been thinking seriously, then, of taking a course to be a

professional. Now it's just a matter of finding a course somewhere

close that I can take with limited funds (perhaps it will be a while!) .

Here's my request: I am trying to figure out a carrying case for my

essential oils, of which I have quite a bit, of all the different sizes,

plus bigger bottles of the carrier oils. I was using a tool box but am

frustrated at how it keeps moving around. Some have suggested foams

inserts with holes cut out, which sounds like a good idea. Does anyone

have any suggestions for where to obtain a box with different layers for

the oils and inserts that still has a handle? I look forward to your

suggestions. Thanks !

Hi Miriam,

Gosh, this is a great idea. I've been using a small square lunch

container/cooler that holds about 2 dz 5 ml bottles upright. Just for seeing

clients and what not it's been fine but I hadn't figured out anything better

that could hold all of my supplies. This is wonderful! Thank you. Can't wait

to hear other folks suggestions!

Wishing you well in all ways,

Lynn

One of the things I use in my first aid kit with great success is a " roll "

of little pill bottles which I have taped together with sticky bandage,

leaving a little bandage on each side of the container stuck to more sticky

bandage so that I can roll the whole thing up - that way I can write on the

sticky bandage, but keep all my little bits together - I keep the pills

alphabetically according to generic name. This would also have the effect

that you could " date " each bottle of essential oil as you purchase it, and

simply add the new oils at the end, also dated. (Of course, that would

defeat the alphabetical storing, but one can't have everything)

I suppose the same principle would work with a band of " waistband " elastic,

sewn in the appropriate place, and it would have the advantage of being

washable, and of being able to replace the bottles of oil rather than

snipping off the finished bottles.

An idea that my aunt uses for her sewing stuff is to attach the bottles to a

long of wood by the lid. (Contact adhesive should work for eos, although my

aunt has hers tacked up to a bookshelf above her sewing machine). Then one

merely has to replace the bottle under the lid when it is complete. The

backs of two kitchen chairs can be used to suspend this strip of wood at a

convenient height for working when one is seated.

Blessed Be.

April,

One thought I had is an accounting audit bag (also called a catalog case)

that can be purchased from office supply houses. Basically think of an eight

inch deep hard side suitcase that opens from the top (where the handle is)

instead of the side. You can then buy blocks of foam, that are the right

size (we have a manufacturer nearby who will professionally cut to fit if

standard sizes won't do) and cut slits in them with a matte knife and stick

the bottles of oils in the slits. You could use a thicker piece of foam on

the bottom for the carrier oils and a couple of layers of shallower pieces on

top of those for the EOs. This method would keep all the oils in an upright

position (as long as you didn't turn the case on its side) and the foam would

insulate the oils from temperature extremes and jarring. The biggest

drawback I see would be packing and unpacking - getting the various layers in

and out of the bag.

In the same tone, how and where do others store their EOs and fixed oils at

home? Right now mine are sitting in a shoe box in the floor of my walk in

closet - the darkest and most insulated place in the house. It is always

cool there as it is in the center of the house and has no windows.

Gently,

Pam

Good morning April,

I went over to Target in their plastic section and purchased two colored

boxes with latching lids. 8 " high, 6 1/2 " wide and 11 3/4 " long. Two

handles flip up or down. Four of the plastic square trays - 'miniature

laundry baskets' 2 " deep, 5 " wide, 6 1/2 " long - fit two on bottom & stack

two on top. Fifteen bottles (15ml or 5ml) fit in each tray. There is

approximately 2 " at the top for your little extras - papers, appointment

book [small], receipt book, etc. For the taller stuff I just set into

another of the boxes. To make this easier still I make a label of each

oil when I receive it and put it on the cap so I can read it without

handling it. I place clear fingernail polish over the label to protect

it. Since I have " TOO " many oils, [NOT] LOL, I try to organize them in

the little inner baskets according to how often I use them, group

together the ones I use in certain therapies, etc. Another neat thing

about these boxes - If for some reason they flip over, (when closed) the

bottles in side may fall over a bit but stay in their own little

baskets. My cats are very curious about my oils. Angel tried to get in

the box with the oils and it turned over. All I had to do was

straighten the bottles a little.

Tackle boxes are nice but they are not really suited to the oils unless

you have it packed full and then use packing material to secure

stablilze the bottles inside. this takes up space and time when getting

to the oils and packing them up. My table travels and it helps to have

the oils accessible and easily handled. So far I have 3 of these little

boxes.

I have sold beads for years and organization in a must. My husband says

I am box happy. My boxes are purple and blue.

Hope this helps you

O-siy-o
