Guest guest
Thanks Laurie for the wet cloth idea. It is a real pain, and looks dumb, but putting Saran Wrap over any applied oil for a few minutes after application helps for deeper penetration. Good luck on school. Nurse Practitioners are the way to go. I haven't seen an MD in several years (except once when my NP wasn't in and he didn't have a clue about a reaction to a shot that my NP knew exactly what I was experiencing) and don't plan to anytime soon. They (nurse practitioners) tend to listen to the patients more, and seem to understand the effects of different treatments at the patient level better (if that makes sense) All of the local MD's have Nurse Practioners, I assume because they are cheaper than hiring another MD, but WE, the patients, benefit from it. Though I (fortunitely) don't suffer from menstrual cramps, let me throw this out in the mix for your thoughts-women that have had tubal ligations seem to have worse menstrual cramp pain. Clary Sage works well, but beware-it can and does cause nightmares if used at bedtime. I would have never believed it, and usually just read over that type of info given about an EO, but my wife (who likes Clary Sage alone with a carrier) had to quit using it due to the vivid dreams she was experiencing from it. Here are three books for you, Gay- " Aromatherapy-Healing for the Body and Soul " by Kathi Keville, Publications International, LTD, $5.99 US (Don't be put off by the low price, this book has lots of info, and plenty of blends) " Aromatherapy for Dummies-A Reference for the Rest of Us " by Kathi Keville, IDG Books, $19.99 US (Don't be put off by the name-this is a good book for those of us who aren't rocket scientists that would like an all-around understanding of essential oils. There is lots of information here! Kathi Keville is the director of the American Herb Association. I did not realize she wrote both of these books until long after I had read them both) " Aromatherapy-A Lifetime Guide to Healing with Essential Oils " by Valerie Gennari Cooksley, Prentice Hall, $13.95 US (Plenty of blends to try) I have read several other books that were more expensive, most of them did not have as much information as these three lesser expensive books. Sharon-thanks for the earache remedy. Have used olive oil in the past, and fortunitely have not had to deal with any since I became interested in aromatherapy (on my children and grandchildren) and I assume I would have thought about lavender, but may not have.
