Guest guest
Just a little on why to buy 100% pure essential oils. Synthetics are inorganic substances that do not contain any " life force " and are not dynamic. We can synthesize chemicals but we cannot structure them to be organic. No synthetic process can fully reconstruct a natural product. It is important to understand the difference between synthetic oils (made possible by recent advances in chemistry) and pure essential oils. Synthetic substances and artificial fragrances may duplicate the smell of the pure botanical , but it is the complex chemical components of each essential oil created in nature that determine its therapeutic and true aromatic qualities. Synthetically-derived perfumes and cosmetics can cause allergies and distress to the skin. Anyone have anything to add? Tracy LM
Guest guest
Dear Tracy, Thank you for opening up this discussion, especially seeing some folks taking oils internally. I too have been concerned about people using oils that are not of a Grade A, Absolute quality and organic to boot. I know this is a sticky topic for some folks, but because the laws do not require growers, distillers, etc. to fully disclose about the processing of the plants used to create essential oils, I sometimes wonder if people read the books about what true essential oils are capable of doing and then try oils that may not be fully qualified to do the jobs. Then again, maybe this is my Cancer Moon being overly protective and all that kind of stuff :) Can't wait to read other folks words of wisdom here. Blessings on us all, Lynn T [feline4] Natural Vs. The above can certainly be true for synthetics, although I would say the perfume and cosmetic outfits do try to follow guidlines in their products to minimize reactions to their products...... One also *has* to bear in mind that 100% natural, pure and organic EO's can do the very same thing.....that is, cause allergies and skin irritations.....and more... Certain EO's have high levels of chemicals that are toxic to the body....some have compounds in them that are considered carcinogens... Some just plain irritate the skin. Some can cause sensitization and *cross* sensitization..... Which all points up to the importance of knowing the safety aspects of *any* EO one is using....the importance of proper dilution....and where one can run into trouble using them.... Sometimes this information is not readily available......even from some of the folk who provide the EO's........ I'm not trying to be alarmist here.......EO's seem to have a pretty good safety record when used properly..... But it's incumbent on each and every one of us who use them to learn as much as we can about them......or sooner or later you're bound to have an " interesting " experience..... -- Gary Bourbonais L'Hermite Aromatique
