Geranium

Hi everyone

Just returned home from a swap treatment to read the digest, only to find

geranium

being discussed - my friend just used it on me, along with rose otto and basil!

This is a blend I particularly like because it's ultra relaxing without being

sedative, just what I needed.

For me, the keyword to geranium is balancing - of body, mind and spirit. I

prefer

the ones that aren't too sweet. Did you know that South Africa is home to the

pelargoniums, and yet we don't produce the essential oil - what a waste!

On a metaphysical note, geranium resonates with the solar plexus chakra - you

can

use it for protection, and it helps us achieve our goals, perhaps by

strengthening

that particular chakra.

Hi Moira in Johannesburg - nice to meet you. I would think that geranium would

be

good for your HIV+ clients, on both a physical level (their many skin problems)

and

on other levels (anti-depressant, soothing to the mind etc). What do you like

to

use?

This looks like a good list to be on!

Ciao

Helen in Cape Town

Helen, I have a very funny way of allowing my clients to select their own

blends if there is nothing specific which I am treating. They have already

lost so much control over their own lives that I suggest that they sniff a

few of the oils and select for themselves. Interestingly, they tend to

select oils according to what I consider their needs to be, perhaps because

I open the bottles most likely to produce the effects I want fairly early.

I'm also quite mean when I do this because I often open eucalyptus or

peppermint quite early and then give them the citrus and blossom fragrances.

I am fortunate in that two of the doctors who work extensively with HIV+

people in my circle are also " clients " of mine for aromatherapy. This makes

them very supportive of my work. Both are convinced that the care and love

passed on by the physical touch are in themselves beneficial. I have long

been convinced that I have the gift of healing, so I spend some time

balancing myself and then trying to get energy to flow beneficially.
