Peppermint Dilution

What dilution of peppermint should I use? 2%? Or more? I have

grapeseed oil to dilute it with.

If it matters, I would be using it to keep myself refreshed on long

car trips, probably rubbing it on the back of my neck or just sniffing

it. And maybe now and then for headaches.

Also, would rosemary be good to add? How much?

Hi Tammy,

Gosh, peppermint is fabulous for getting rid of headaches! A drop or two,

directly on the point-of-pain, applying as often as it takes to cool that

puppy down! Get some oxygen flowing again and all that cool stuff! I also

have peppermint with me when I travel, just in case my eyes get a bit

droopy. A whiff or two of peppermint or rosemary (or even both!) and I'm

feeling better in no time.

As for dilution, I often use a Grade A oil so I don't have to dilute unless

I want to. So I will leave the recipe part to my fellow EO Aficionados!

Wishing you well, in all ways,

Lynn

Tammy,

Peppermint is usually ok to go over 2%, maybe as high as 4%, I feel

cheated if I use peppermint and don't get a warming/cooling sensation.

Rosemary is perfect for the result you are looking for, but be very careful

with it, as it is not recommended for those of us with high blood pressure,

or people with epilepsy. I guess you should also be careful as it is also

an aphrodisiac. :) Probably use one drop per three of peppermint.

Thanks, Frank!

I also like to feel the cooling/warming sensation. Thanks for

the warnings. As far as I know I don't have to worry about, er,

those three conditions.

So, I am confused again. Should I dilute peppermint or can I use

it straight? I don't know what grade A is, I just have peppermint

oil - essential oil. I did my dilution this afternoon - 3% peppermint

and 1% rosemary in Grapeseed oil. It smells nice but I don't get the

cooling sensation that I did when I used it straight - yes I did use

it straight before this list told me not to :-)

Also, if you buy those bottles with the dropper tips - you know,

you add your oil to the bottle then screw on the cap which places

the dropper into the bottle - can you use those bottles again after

they're empty? Can you take the dropper tip out or can you just

add more oil through the dropper?
