IASTAM Members,

My name is Robert Steele, a new IASTAM associate member. I hold an MD in

Alternative Medicine from India and a Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine from

England. Currently I'm involved writing a paper on Malaria, its' allopathic

diagnosis/treatment and the historic/present day role of ayurveda,

traditional chinese medicine, and homeopathy in treating this disease. If

time permits, a book on malaria for village health workers and volunteers

will be a part of the overall project. The book is inspired in part by a

1996 work by the World Health Oganization which is now outdated. While its'

basic concept will be maintained, i.e. allopathic diagnosis/treatment, it

will also emphasize the use of alternative medicines for prevention and

treatment of malaria.

I would appreciate any help/suggestions members might have especially

studies carried out on various remedies/herbs with positive or negative

results. Anecdotal evidence will also be helpful.

A bit more about my background. I came to alternative medicine late in life

(50) first studying homeopathy then the more broad-based MD(AM) and now have

a fascination with ayurveda. Before that I was a freelance writer, owner of

a small publishing house and aerial photography business, private pilot,

founder of a group to restore rail service to my area, and various social

service acativities. I retired due to health reason at age 50 and have

chosen to remain active by pursuing a longterm interest in alternative

medicine. My home base is Denver, Colorado but am seldom there. I'm spending

this summer touring the Canadian Maritimes and hope to be in India in

October.

Anyone member who would like may contact me directly at

resteele99.

Thanks,

Robert Steele
