The term Frozen shoulder means a painful stiff shoulder secondary to Periarthritis (inflammation of tissues ) of the shoulder GENERAL COMPLAINTS OF FROZEN SHOULDERS : The sufferer often Complaints Pain around the shoulder joint. The pain felt just above the Shoulder joint gradually radiating along the outer side of the arm to the back of arm. Gradually pain increases with severity. Night pain is considerable often makes to awake the patient from deep sleep. The sufferer also realizes the Stiffness of the shoulder along with pain. As the pain gradually subsides after a few months, stiffness increases in severity. This stiffness further makes the sufferer unable to lift the affected arm. GENERAL CAUSES OF FROZEN SHOULDERS: Causes include various factors such as any history of previous injury, Over Exercises, Excessive indulgence in foods which are dry , cold ,salty , Keeping awake at nights, Fasting, indigestion and other stress related factors. AYURVEDIC VIEW: In Ayurveda, Frozen shoulders has been named as " Apabahukam " Apabahukam is mainly caused due to vitiation of Vata dosha. " Amsamoolasthitho Vayuhu Siraha Sankochya Tathragaha Bahu Praspanditaharam Janayathi Apabahukam " (ASHTANGA HRIDAYAM) That means Vatha Dosha vitiated due to certain causative factors (mentioned earlier) gets to locate at the root of the shoulders constricts the veins (Siras) produce Apabahukam causing loss of movement of the arm " UNIQUE SPECIALITY OF AYURVEDIC TREATMENT Generally the sufferers of Frozen shoulders go for usage of Analgesics , Corticosteroid, anti-inflammatory , etc. This approach may give only a timely cure but not a permanent relief of the pain, because of which the pain reappears frequently. This makes the sufferer to have repeated usage of injections & tablets. The drawback is that these medicines instead of removing the Root cause, suppresses the symptoms leading to the increase in severity. Ayurvedic treatment involves mainly the removing the of root cause & Relief of symptom is only the ultimate cure for the disease. " Apabahukam hitam Nasyam Snehasya Uttara Baktikaha " The Ayurvedic treatment includes administration of Herbally medicated Kashayas, Aristas, oils for both internal and external use & Purgation (for complete removal of toxin of the body). Panchakarma treatment includes Oil massage (Abhyanga), Steam bath (Swedanam), Nasyam, Narangakizhi (A special type of Panchakarma therapy of Kerala) For details: Santhigiri Ayurveda & Siddha Vaidyasala, No. 1458, H Block, 16th Street, 16th Main Road, Annanagar West, Chennai 600 040. Guest guest
Akhil J.L., Hari Om ! ......................................thanks for explanation ! I have visited 'Santhigiri Ayurveda & Siddha Vaidyasala at Annanagar. The Ayurvedic treatment, here, includes administration of Herbally medicated Kashayas, Purgation (for complete removal of toxin of the body) and Panchakarma treatment includes Oil massage (Abhyanga), Steam bath (Swedanam), Nasyam,Narangakizhi (A special type of Panchakarma therapy of Kerala) e.t.c.............. but the treatment is costly. It is good for a DOLLAR-man ............... There are many Panchakarma therapy Centres in India but a poor or a common man CANN'T visit these centres due to the treatment cost (.... either added to therapy or to the room-rent ?). If a therapy isn't in common man's reach, it becomes a part of ' luxurious life'. 'Santhigiri Ayurveda & Siddha Vaidyasala' , a reputed centre ( A spiritual Centre or Ashram, too) , should always find out a way ( ..... it's my request ? ) to reduce the treatment cost so that a common man can avail the facility and enjoy the benefits of our ancient system. We should always try to give the benefits to the grass-root level, if not, the philosophy behind the ancient system becomes helpless. With best wishes, Swami Brahmavidyananda Saraswati, A Hindu Sannyasi from Uttarakhand, India ___________________ The Ayurvedic treatment includes administration of Herbally medicated Kashayas, Aristas, oils for both internal and external use & Purgation (for complete removal of toxin of the body). Guest guest
In any system of medicine cost effectiveness must be one prime consideration in the public point of view. on the other hand private sector modern medicine group tries to grab maximum form a patient . diagnosis is very costlier now a days than one or two decades back.one has to loose wealth , health and then death .This happens to many patients. In ancient India sanyasis were treating people spiritually also used folk medicine which was very cheap. In those days public respected sanyasis and provided free food for them where ever they go. This was ancient culture in Hindu , Buddhist civilizations. They served public in health point and education point and many ways. of course there were village vaidyas, who moderately charged and Raja vaidyas who were costlier doctor in those days. now a days it is extremely costlier to get a quality treatment. it is because knowledged sanyasis are rare. One sanyasi was living in a ashram where lot of rats eating grains . He was troubled and decided to maintain a cat. After cat came rat menace diminished but he needed some milk to support the cat. he bought a cow. After cow came he got some extra work load and his friends adviced him to marry a women. He married. got few children and lived for the welfare of wife , children, cow, cat etc and forgot to meditate. I too like that sanyasi , having many dependents, family , employees and as everybody needs comfortable life. It has become very difficult to charge cheaply.
