Inaugurating the Dayawati Modi Ayurveda Vaidhyashala and Panchkarma Centre at GM Modi Hospital in the capital, Dr BK Modi, Chairman, Spice Foundation, said, "We need to have holistic approach to wellness and wellbeing of people. And thus having a wellness centre along with medical facilities within the hospital is important. Curative medicine is incomplete without recuperative healthcare built on the concept of wellness that is holistic, heritage and hi-tech." The hospital will have a 1,000 feet Ayurveda centre and two rooms (outpatient and inpatient department). There will be dedicated staff for treatment and also an Ayurveda pharmacy. According to Dr Kiran, Zonal Head, Santhigiri Ashram, "We are very optimistic about this project. Previously, Ayurveda was thought to be only for rejuvenation, but now it's a standardised treatment." Santhigiri Ashram is a spiritual, non-religious, charitable organisation. It has two medical colleges and 78 hospitals all over India. Santhigiri has patent medicines for rheumatism, arthritis, sprains, diabetes mellitus, spondylitis, asthma, obesity, psychosomatic disorders, migraine, sports injuries, eye disease, sinusitis and psoriasis. On this occasion, Spice Foundation also announced that it would invest around Rs 200 crore in heritage, holistic and hi-tech concepts of healthcare and education.
