And the titles are very special for them because it is the last edition of Ayurfest. Next time onwards, there will be Medifest, integrating various medical disciplines. Mahesh, final-year student of Vishnu Ayurveda College, Shornur, stood first in folk dance, second in monoact and fancy dress. Drisyamol, third-year student of Santhigiri Ayurveda College, Palakkad, got first prizes for monoact and fancy dress and second for mohiniyattom and folk dance. While Mahesh has been the first prize winner in Kathakali and monoact in State school youth festivals (1998, 2000 and 2002), Drisyamol has been State school youth festival winner in Ottanthullal from her Class VIII to Class XII. She has been the state-level Kathakali winner for three years and was the Calicut University Kalathilakom this year. ‘’We usually come face to face in most of the youth festivals,’’ they said. Drisyamol is the younger sister of Vidyamol, who was the Kerala University Kalathilakom in 2004. Interestingly, Mahesh was the Kalaprathibha in Alappuzha district school youth festival when Vidya was the Kalathilakom. Monoact competition was separate for male and female contestants. Drisyamol presented Abhaya case in her monoact to win the first prize and Mahesh recalled the real-life incident where a child and dog were tied together, and grabbed the second prize. In fancy dress, held together for male and female, Drisyamol presented the Godhra train tragedy and Mahesh presented a freedom fighter. Government Ayurveda College, Kannur, won the overall championship at Ayurfest with 104 points. Vaidyaratnam P.S.Varier Ayurveda College, Kottakkal, came second and Pankajakasthuri Ayurveda College, Thiruvananthapuram, came third.
