Nava Oli Jyotir Dinam- 9 will be celebrated throughout the world by Santhigiri Ashram spreading the message of godly love among men. The celebrations will start from 27th April and culminate on 6th May 2008 after the 72 days observance of fast and prayers (vritam). It was in 6th may 1999 Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru merged with Adisankalpam, the plane of Supreme Consciousness. On the occasion, the Ashram has organized several functions and programs throughout India. The 10 day-long Nava Oli Jyothir Dhinam celebrations will be inaugurated by Sri. L.K. Advani, Hon'ble Opposition Leader, Loka Sabha at 5 PM, 27th April 2008. Sri A.K. Antony, Hon'ble Defense Minister, Govt. of India will also attend a Meeting on 4th May in connection with Nava Oli Jyothir Dhinam-9. Sri Pannian Raveendran, Member of Parliament will preside over the function. Santhigiri promotes spirituality beyond religious boundaries. Guru exhorted the world to see man beyond caste and religious identities. Guru lived 72 years in this world, leading a simple life and talking the language of common man. He filled the mind of people with love and guided them giving refuge in the ashram, accepting their sorrows and sufferings, sharing his love and simplicity with them. He was both the Word and the Path for them. Santhigiri Ashram has planned a year-long social and cultural programme in connection with Nava Oli Jyothir Dinam. Sri Monse Joseph, Minister of Public Works will be the Chief Guest at the Cultural Meeting organized at the Ashram Auditorium on 5th May. K P C C President, Sri. Ramesh Chennithala will preside over the meeting. Many other eminent personalities from the spiritual, social, political and cultural areas are expected to participate in this function. Nava Oli Jyotir Dinam Celebrations mark special prayers on 6th May from 3'O clock in the morning, followed by Pushpanjali and other spiritual functions attended by thousands of people. Sri M.K. Premachandran, State Minister for Irrigation will inaugurate the Nava Oli Jyothir Dinam Meeting at 10 am the same day. Sri K. Muraleedharan, N C P State President will preside over the function. The celebrations will continue after the 4'O Clock meeting to be inaugurated by Sri.Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Hon'ble Home Minister of Kerala, in which Sri.Mullakkara Rathnakaran, Minister for Agriculture will be the Chief Guest. There will be Kumba Mela Procession at 6 PM and the functions will conclude with pushpanjali at 9.30 pm. Santhi Mahima, the cultural wing of the Ashram for youth is organizing a 3 day study camp on 3rd, 4th and 5th of May with the participation of 1000 youth. The study camp will consist of written test, quiz and memory test based on social responsibility, Guru's ideology, spiritual experiences, and the life of great souls. Santhigiri Research Foundation will conduct a lecture programme on the subject - Caste System -Its Impact on Indian Society, as part of a Lecture Series. The lecture will be inaugurated by the well known Historian and Author Dr. M. Gangadharan on April 30th, at 10 AM at Santhigiri Vidyabhavan. Utharasree Free Education Programme Utharasree is a program of Guru Mahima, the Young Women's organization of Santhigiri Ashram. In connection with Nava oli Jyothir Dhinam-9 it has initiated a free education programme for economically poor students from this academic year. The Ashram aims to assist meritorious but financially deprived students to continue their education. Ten students from high school and college level would be selected and given educational support including provision for their daily expenses through this programme. As part of this program 1500 students from Pothencode Govt. U.P. School and Koliakode Govt.U.P. School will be given free uniform and study materials. This scheme will be an ongoing program every year. O.V. Vijayan Memorial Lecture Series and O.V.Vijayan Award Santhigiri Ashram is organizing O.V.Vijayan Memorial Lecture Series during the 2nd week of May and it will be inaugurated by the well known literary figure and orator, Dr. Sukumar Azheekode. This Lecture series will seek to explode the multi faceted personality of Sri. O.V. Vijayan as a modern writer, philosopher and spiritual seeker. The Lecture series will commence in the month of July at the birth place of Sri. Vijayan at Palakkad and Delhi were he spent most of his years. The third lecture in this series will be held at Thiruvananthapuram during the month of September, on the occasion of the birthday celebrations of Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru. The contemporary writers and colleagues of Sri O.V.Vijayan also will be the participants in the lecture. Santhigiri Research Foundation will constitute O.V.Vijayan Award for writers contributing to national and international literature. Santhigiri Social Research Institute will also conduct research on Vijayan's works. K.R.Narayanan Endovement K.R. Narayanan Endovement being constituted by Santhigiri Ashram will be inaugurated by Sri.T.K.N.Nair, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of India in the month of June. It aims to groom potential youth to play their role in the national and international leadership. Kerala was contributing much to the National Administrative Service in the past. But during the recent times this trend has been adversely affected. Santhigiri Ashram will provide assistance to the financially deprived youth of Kerala to prepare for the Civil service. Santhigiri will provide assistance to the tune of Rs.1 lakh to three deserving candidates for under going training in Civil Service examination. The final year degree students will be eligible for selection to this. Through this Endowment Santhigiri Ashram is paying its tribute to Sri. K.R Narayanan, who, from the pit of deprivation, raised himself to become the President of India, through hard work and intellectual capabilities. During the Nava Oil Jyothir Dinam celebrations, through the free health care programme – Karunyam, initiated by the Ashram, free treatment facilities will be provided to the poor throughout India. The 3rd phase of this programme will commence at Thiruvananthapuram on 1st May 2008. During the 1st phase 300 medical camps were conducted benefitting approx. 2 lakhs patients. During the 2nd phase approx. 280 camps were conducted throughout India. In the 3rd phase, the programme aims to make available continuous treatment to financially poor patients in India. Nava Oli Jyotir Dinam celebrations are also being organized at all branch ashrams of Santthigiri including Delhi. On Thursday 24th April 2008, Sri M.A.Baby, State Education Minister will inaugurate the celeberations at Ernakulam branch ashram while Sri K.V.Thomas will be the Chief Guest in the function.
