Guest guest
Guru Charanam Saranam SANTHIGIRI RESEARCH FOUNDATION Research Wing of Santhigiri Ashram, Santhigiri P.O., Thiruvananthapuram-695584 PRESS RELEASE The foundation stone for the Santhigiri Research Foundation of Santhigiri Ashram will be laid by Smt. Sonia Gandhi, UPA Chairperson on February 15, 2008, at Santhigiri Ashram at 9. 00 AM. This would be the laying of spiritual foundation for future research in the world. The world is grappling with numerous problems, viz., armed conflicts, epidemics, ailments, poverty, natural disasters, communalism, terrorism, corruption, unemployment, environmental degradation, water scarcity and so on. Efforts to resolve these do not seem to yield the desired results. The need of the time is to understand the root cause of the problems. The remedial action, according to Navajyoti Sree Karunakara Guru, should start at the grass roots of society – at the individual level at home and to make its impact on the region, state, nation and the world at large. In other words, the need of the hour is to have a spiritually pure generation, which has a deep sense of commitment and dedication towards the welfare of humanity. Santhigiri Research Foundation – the research wing of Santhigiri Ashram - seeks to substantiate this sublime vision of new world order received through the spiritual wisdom of the founder Guru, Navajyothi Sree Karunakara Guru. The Foundation is functioning under the spiritual guidance of the present spiritual head Sishya Poojitha Janani Amrita Jnana Thapaswini. SANTHIGIRI RESEARCH FOUNDATION Jeeva or the soul of every Individual carries a culture, the residue from past lives, which is an admixture of good and bad. India had a unique tradition of finding out the hidden details of that culture. For example, the indigenous medical sciences – Ayurveda and Siddha, developed from the vision of the seers, used this knowledge of the soul for determining the line of treatment. This basic wisdom was handed down through a stream of master – disciple relationship. However we have lost our link with this pattern. This apparently did not happen in a day or decade but billions and trillions of years ago. According to Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru, it is the result of a spiritual error which occurred to a great master twenty five chaturyugas (age-quartets – Satya, Treta, Dwapara & Kali) ago. All the problems that we encounter today are linked to that cardinal mistake, which led to the obscuring of true nature of human perception. Having diagnosed the deep rooted malady Guru came up with a comprehensive measure to overcome this lapse and to re-establish the god ordained life tradition lost to the world. The research undertaken by Santhigiri Research initiatives is inspired and guided by Guru’s extra ordinary vision. RESEARCH INITIATIVES Santhigiri Social Research Institute The experience of spiritual phenomena needs to be utilized and sustained for the welfare of the world for which a durable path amenable to science has to be evolved. Spiritual insights experienced by different people at different times have been recorded on different occasions and platforms. It is necessary to collect data on spiritual experiences from all contemporary people associated with Guru - renunciants, celibates and devotees. Data collection would not be limited to one sect or particular religion but would cover all religions and sects to ensure its scientific and universal validity. The experiences received in the waking, dream, deep-sleep states of consciousness are not limited to physical-mental phenomena but have a deeper connotation with subtle nature of the cosmic manifestation through physical, mental and causal levels of consciousness. The research aims to analyze these experiences to determine the nature of cosmic reality in all its subtle layers. One should know through spiritual vision various factors behind the formation of physical body and its evolution. This also encompasses the knowledge of medicines, treatment systems, and various substances in nature that can be used for cure of disease. Through spiritual vision, the nature of the soul, its transformation and other related phenomena are discovered. The research in this area would involve quantum physics, astrophysics, and genetic, material and chemical sciences. Santhigiri Scientific and Industrial Research Institute Navajyoti Sree Karunakara Guru has said that the lack of ‘virtue’ (punya) in the soul manifests as diseases, misfortunes and misery in life. Only through a path or life style that could enrich the soul with virtue and brilliance, the karmic, genetic and spiritual negativities could be reversed. This will involve the study of individual cases and experiences including the study of medicines and the line of treatment advised by Guru. In the treatment of diseases that are diagnostically same, medicines may not give the same results due to differences in character and nature of the individual and disease. The rules in such cases should be recorded as a guiding principle along with the knowledge of karmic cures intended to nullify the karmic causes. This should be analyzed along with the use of medicines and the application of prayers and penance. Guru has formed an integrated path of treatment using elements from various systems of medicines. Navajyoti Sree Karunkara Guru focused on Indian systems of medicines - Ayurveda & Siddha in combination with his spiritual concepts. The research is to prove these aspects scientifically for the benefit of humanity. Navajyoti Sree Karunakara Guru Research Centre for Ayurveda & Siddha The change in the flow of history by colonization, political changes, above all the industrial revolution had weakened or washed out traditions all over the world. Fortunately for India some traditions are surviving including Ayurveda and Siddha systems of medicine. Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru Research Centre for Ayurveda and Siddha aims to study these traditions scientifically and make them more popular and useful to the world. Santhigiri Research Foundation would bring these three research institutes as well as future institutions under one roof. Santhigiri Ashram has been recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) vide declaration no. 14/435/2006-TU_V dated 13th 12 2006. Besides this, the Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India has granted Santhigiri Ashram Income Tax exemption of 125% under Section 35, sub section I, clause (ii) & (iii) on donations for research and educational purposes. Gurucharanam Saranam Santhigiri Social Research Institute Santhigiri Scientific and Industrial Research Institute It was due to lack of Research and Scientific approach the Indian Systems of Medicine did not get acceptance or due recognition outside India. Out of approx. 1000 classical formulas mentioned in the classical Ayurveda texts, hardly 400 formulas are in use, which suggests the vast scope Ayurveda still holds out to the researchers. Research holds the key to make the ancient Indian systems of medicine adaptive to the present age by way of standardization and fixing the parameters of toxic levels etc. as followed in the field of modern medicine. The aim of Santhigiri Social Research Institute is to scientifically explore the spiritual phenomena, focusing on the teachings of Guru related to the human health and welfare. Some of the research topics are: I. Gurupooja or Genetic Cleansing - Though a similar concept exists in all religions, the Gurupooja or Genetic Cleansing (cleansing of manes) Guru conducts in Santhigiri Ashram has no parallel both in its efficacy and method. In the traditional Hindu method elaborate ceremony according to Vedic tradition is required involving huge expenses and most ironically the effect of such ceremony is hardly effective, experiences of many people supporting this fact. Guru performs Gurupooja without any such elaborate ceremony or expenses just by his ‘Sankalpam’ or ‘Formative Will’. Regarding the efficacy, the positive experiences of thousands of families are available in the ashram for study. Research is required to study this phenomenon scientifically which includes the changes in genetic, spiritual and material life of an individual before and after Gurupooja. II. Swayamvaram - The basic concept of Swayamvaram is founded on Rishi tradition of India. A genetic science is involved in this system which ensures the birth and evolution of a good future generation with developed faculties of vision and karmic potential. Guru has restored this system of Rishis, which one can witness in the performance of marriages in Santhigiri. These marriages are conducted as per the advice of Guru with the suitable couples, whose subtle and gross genetic, spiritual and karmic factors are matching. However, in such selections, the differences of castes, religion, social status or race are not considered. Through such a genetic churning, both subtle and gross, Guru envisions the birth of a casteless, classless and unified society. III. Yugadharma - Research is required to study the concepts in the origin and evolution of the Universe and to find out any meaningful scheme in the creation with the help of science and technology. As we can see, according to the changes in the universe, the way of life, the vision and belief systems of mankind also undergo change which suggests the existence of an evolutionary process or principle in the universe. Yuga Dharma is related to the scientific study of this principle, about which the ancient Rishis were very well aware. Guru has rediscovered this long lost, but ever relevant concept and brought it in focus for research. Any deviation in the Yuga Dharma can cause unimaginable damage and stagnation to the universal process of evolution, especially in relation to the life of man and nature. IV. Guru’s Life and Mission - The study of Guru’s birth and mission is a subject of Research. There are many prophesies related to the birth of Guru. The most significant incident that has connection with the birth of Guru is the experience of Sri Aurobindo. Also the experiences of contemporary people in Guru’s life and that of thousands of disciples have to be chronologically studied for the purpose of research. V. The Study of the Life of Great Souls – Guru has revealed that 2,444 Gurus have taken birth from the beginning of this age (kaliyuga). It would be necessary to identify and study the lives of these Gurus, their mission, achievements and sufferings, freeing their work and sacrifice from the closed walls of religion, caste and creed. God’s Will is expressed through such messengers born at different intervals of history. When these messengers of God are persecuted, it is the God’s will which gets impeded and as a consequence, natural calamities and imbalances in nature take place affecting human life. VI. Astral Pollution - The manifestation of events and problems have link with the subtle world. Research is required in this area to find out the various factors and phenomena working in the subtle and gross planes of existence that causes dissatisfaction, moral degradation, violence and wars. One major revelation of Guru is related to the fundamental error occurred in the spiritual plane and the resultant spiritual pollution affecting dharma and karma in the world. The aim and spiritual practice of Santhigiri is cleansing this atmospheric pollution in order to guide humanity to higher planes of spiritual realization. VII. Relation between Karmadosha (karmic error) and Ailment – According to Indian systems of medicines- both Ayurveda and Siddha, diseases occur due to the merit and demerit in the soul acquired through the chain of births and deaths. Even the character formation of the individual is directly related to these imprints of karma (karmagati) in the soul. Santhigiri has many cases that could prove the relation between karmadhosha and ailments and its cure through the spiritual intercession of Guru. Research is to be undertaken based on these cases. In this regard developing relevant data base with clinical evidence is necessary. VIII. Research is to be focused on new product & process development and its patenting. Santhigiri Ashram is planning to have three Research Centers in India – one at Thiruvananthapuram for Santhigiri Social Research Institute and one at Uzhavoor, Kottayam for Santhigiri Scientific and Industrial Research Institute and the third office at Delhi as Liaison office.
