Pradesh by Santhigiri Ayurveda & Siddha Vaidyasala of Thiruvanthapuram at ``Pragati Sparsh'', a health village at Proddutur, 35 km from here. Pragati Village, developed by Mr G.V.K. Rao, an industrialist, on 200 acres is surrounded by the water bodies of Osmansagar, Himayatsagar and Proddutur lakes and green environs. Fruit, food and vegetable plants in the area are being grown with organic manure. The State Finance Corporation has funded the project. The ayurvedic centre would be launched on September 20. Mr Gopalakrishna of the Vaidyasala and Mr Rao signed an MoU on Thursday to promote the project. Mr Rao said that about 250 medicinal plants were being grown in the village to enable the centre treat various diseases with herbal medicines. Mr E. Peddi Reddi, Minister for Tourism, said that similar health resorts having the back-up of ancient medical systems would be promoted in places such as Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar.
