The scheme is aimed to facilitate, propagate and popularise the indigenous health care systems in order to create awareness for ensuring a healthy society. For the systematic implementation of the scheme at the national level the country will be divided into five zones - North, East, West, Central and South. Since the majority of the country's population live in rural areas, where the access to health care is remote, the aim of the scheme KARUNYAM is to spread awareness and to make available the medicines and treatment among rural population in order to lead India towards an ailment-free nation.
