<<***Just a caution - tea tree may be toxic to some cats and toy breed dogs.

Cats are senstive to phenolic compounds in tea tree and some other essential

oils. Generally it's recommended not to use it with cats or toy dogs.>>

Hi Suze,

I second this. I had a neighbor who put tea tree oil neat on her cat and it

died a very tortured death within a few hrs of application. Cats are highly

sensitive to essential oils, their livers just can't process them.

On one of my lists a gal posted about her cat having high liver titers and

the vet couldn't figure out why. She thought about what the cat was exposed

to every day and one thing was the burning of ess. oils in a burner to

freshen the air. She immediately quit doing this and within a few weeks the

cats titers went down.

No essential should be used neat on anyone/thing, but as for the burning of

essential oil affecting cats - I am appalled. I have a friend who has 4 cats

and sells the oils and burns them most of the time she is home. I will

enlighten her immediately.

Thanks, Marianne
