If I had to feed canned commercial (NEVER feed dry food only or at all for that matter)... In the Whole Cat Journal they did a comparison of canned cat food. Best brands: Wellness, Precise, Wysong, Azmira, Felidae. This Journal does not accept advertisements... so all testing is " honest " . If you can't find these brands locally, I think they would have websites. Why cats should not have dry food: Cats evolved as desert animals, which means that their kidneys must be extemely efficient and able to conserve most of the moisture they take in. In the wild, their water needs would be met by eating prey whose bodies contain 60 - 70 % water. If you feed canned food, it is far more similar to a cat's natural diet in both composition and moisture than dry food. Cats are not natural drinkers, studies suggest that cats will not drink water until they are somewhat dehydrated. This causes their kidneys to work overtime, all the time... i.e. dry food. Cats are carnivores, they are better equipped to digest animal protein than the high carbohydrate (grains) content of dry food. Ideally, feeding prey is best, like mice... Bon appetite! I offer him fish, chicken etc - but he jolly well turns his prissy little nose up at it, so I have given up. I always make sure he has only water with Colloidal Silver in it next to the food. He seems to thrive on it, but I realise it cannot be healthy for him. Just poisoned him with anti-flea stuff yesterday as well. Felt bad, but didn't want fleas. I know it is toxic stuff, but the brewers yeast wasn't working. he had major fleas!
