Guest guest
I can only share my experience with my mother's situation. She was deathly ill from bypass surgery and sent home to die, I think. She was told not to eat salt, and very little foods with sodium in them. This was confirmed with individual conversations with her heart specialist by both my brother and myself. This woman became progressively worse - depressed, no energy at all and could barely function. She would not eat, as food had no taste. We began to allow salt gradually (with the approval of the home health nurse) and we saw almost immediate results. She became a happier person, began eating more foods, and eventually recovered completely. She did have to have a pacemaker put in, but she is doing well to this day. This happened about 5 years ago. We are still appalled that she was told to limit both salt and naturally occurring sodium in foods. But then we have to remember...one time during an office visit, she was asking him about various supplements, and things like CoQ10 and hawthorne berry....he finally lost his temper and asked her who was the doctor anyway. She was so intimidated by this jerk she never asked another question. Sad but true. Jean
Guest guest
Ever heard " the salt of the earth " (they didn't say " the salt of mortons " . Remember ancient history, when salt was more valuable or " worth its weight in gold " . There's good reason for that. Is anyone familiar with the book written by an md that says that all illness can be mitigated or cured by drinking enough water? He also says that one should injest 1/8 (could be 1/4) teaspoon of sea salt every morning. The thing is that our bodies know what to do with the natural product. Our bodies do not know what to do with the products that hold chemicals in them and ordinary table salt is prepared with mega amounts of chemicals. Sea salt is kind of greyish while what we know as regular salt is bleached and processed and ALL the natural and necessary minerals are processed out of it. Guest guest
It is very discouraging sometimes To get alternative health care -for me is totally out of pocket.I went to an endocrinologist for my blood work last week - a new one , my fourth. First he told me to stop taking the armour , a natural thryoid med.he said he couldnt prescribe it for me.I had to drive 3 hours to get a prescription for armour from a homeopath but i cannot continue to do this because of the costs involved in the visit. It only cost 25.00 to see this endo but he wants to put me back on synthroid which made me sicker. the biggest insult was him telling me to call him for my blood results and that I would have to live with the discomfort of synthroid. he scoffed at my adrenal problem and said he could tell by looking at me that I didnt have adrenal exhaustion .. For the 2 of us that is just way out of out price range, we also HAVE to continue paying into the National Health Service no matter what we do, people who never use the NHS still have to pay from their salaries each and every month. It is a crime that your Endo is allowed to get away with his attitude - I thought other countries were better than the UK, obviously not, they are all tarred with the same brush. For years I would not take pain killers for migraines because I did not want to take these drugs and then in later life I am forced to take drugs that I then find out are far more harmful than the illness's that I have - our doctors should be educated into the 'alternative' route so that we can follow it at our own expense as we do now but with their help and assistance. Guest guest
--- Francie, I would be interested in obtaining that book. I am having a time convincing my sister that sea salt is formulated differently than the " refined " varieties. Very similar to " refined " sugars. Just another perversion of God's perfect foods. " Table salt is processed with mega amounts of chemicals " . That statement is SO true. I have seen a remarkable difference in my health since changing and that's been only within the last year. Thanks for the confirmation. Guest guest
--- Francie, Salt is essential to various bodily functions. This is so true! I've read in so many articles and books that only when there is a lack of potassium does the sodium become harmful! When there is an abundance of potassium present the excess sodium is excreted out in the urine. This has not been common knowledge as the medical profession knows that they would lose millions of dollars in blood pressure medication if we were aware of this. Just eating a banana or two a day for potassium greatly lessens your risks from any extra salt or sodium that you consume. There are studies documenting this very fact. Just another way the pharmaceutical companies have of keeping everyone in the dark so they can drive their Rolls Royce and vacation in the Bahamas. :-) JoAnn JoAnn Guest joguest " francies2 " <francies2> wrote: > Ever heard " the salt of the earth " (they didn't say " the salt of > mortons " . Guest guest
I cannot believe these doctors you both describe. Who the heck do they think they are. Please, try to find another. There has to be some understanding doctors are someone over there. We have nice one here (if you look) but not very knowledgeable, unfortunately.
