Guest guest
Yes we can all be grateful that we have seen the light and are doing the best we can now. My mom always used butter. when we were at home. In a message dated 1/8/02 8:03:21 AM, joguest writes: << well-being. Guest guest
--- Donna, This is due in part to the healthy portrayal of margarines and certainly transfats in the media. I just binged on Promise margarine for years thinking I was doing something special for myself. Gosh, If I'd known the outcome,...two years of convalescence...it would have been in the trash long before that. We can't kick ourselves, but just go on from here. I actually put most of the blame on the FDA and USDA for allowing this false advertising. The american people have no clue, do they? You see it every day in the super mkts. Pop, chips, margarine and cookies. One just wishes that the truth would surface. That would actually take a miracle at this point in time I'm thinking. Special interests have control and if we want to know the truth we have to search for it, the way I see it...it will not come to us. Gee, they say it takes a thirty year buildup to clog your arteries.. if even that. It breaks my heart to think that much of the suffering could be alleviated if the truth were known. And my pet peeve is that many of the European countries have lifted these products from their store shelves. I think they are extremely better off than we are in the fact that they have more healthy choices. Natural is the best way to go as we all know. The media portrays unhealthy products as delightful and desirable. My grandkids beg me for " happy meals " . I stick by my choices and am seeing the differences in their health and well-being. I'm just glad that I was able to reverse some of the ill effects by taking vitamins and herbs and dietary changes. Otherwise I would be six feet under but for the grace of God.
