An ECG (electrial Cardiogram) will give a doc and incidation as to if you have a problem (sometimes, as in the case of my dad, it was missed and he should have had a test while on tread mill, it would have shown then) If there is an indication from that uninvasive test, the dr. may order a heart cath or angeogram. That's where you are sedated and a dye is place in arteries and tine " camera " is threaded from femeral artery incision in groin, up to heart. Any blockages show there. I also had a doppler test done on caroidic (sp) arteries which showed no blockages. If you are woman, please be aware that women feel heart pain/attack in different ways then do men. Mine for instances was only in my back, under my lift shoulder blade. I had NO idea it was my heart. But nurses told me most women do feel pain in back first or only. There was a short clip on radio news two nights ago that said that it has been found that the heart can regenerate itself. Nothing more. Of course I know that to be true because I have given my body what is necessary to rebuild it. But good to know science is recognizing it too. Previously i've only heard it said that the Liver is the only organ that can completely regenerate itself. Blessings Francie

If you are sedated for angiograms you have no need to be, I had an angiogram and no sedation, was sent home 4 hours later and everyone in the ward (7 of us) were processed in the same way. Heart pain can also start with a pain in the neck/chin (my mother had back pain prior to angina, and then just prior to a mild stroke, pain in her neck) - not all pain is heart problems but if you do have pain as Francie mentioned or in the neck/chin, it is time to have it checked out.
