Hi Mindy, They put in emulsifiers (made from both di and monoglycerides) which are not full triglycerides. Normally naturally occuring fat / oil is a combination of a glycerol molecule and three fatty acids hooked together to look like a tuning folk. However by chemistry you can chop off one or two of the fatty acid molecules and the resultant molecule is not considered in the fat content. Look for E 471 or E 472. http://www.eat-online.net/english/education/food_additives/emulsifiers.htm ======================== Good Health & Long Life, Greg Watson, http://optimalhealth.cia.com.au gowatson USDA database (food breakdown) http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/ PubMed (research papers) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi DWIDP (nutrient analysis) http://www.walford.com/dwdemo/dw2b63demo.exe Patch file for above http://www.walford.com/download/dwidp67u.exe KIM (omega analysis) http://ods.od.nih.gov/eicosanoids/KIM_Install.exe
Guest guest
Ummm.... not quite on point. The emulsifiers bit is correct. It doesn't relate to the trans fats. No trans fats means not hydrogenated. This margarine is made by emulsifying vegetable oils and a bit of water or other liquid so that it is hard, rather than by hydrogenating the vegetable oils so they are hard.
