Guest guest
BlankHello to Francine and other new membes. Interested in the diet you follow Francine to help your cortisol control. I had saliva tests done for adrenal exhaustion two plus years ago, and I was very exhausted at the time. I have always secreted to much cortisol, don't know if that stems from psychological states or a genetic problem. Also have a very sensitive nervous system, no fun. Like to know if there is a book that goes with your meal plans? Hi to lyn also, and the essential oils.. I purchase essential oils in capsules to take by mouth, these are from a French company called Pranarom. I get them in the U.K. and find them safe and effective. They are certainly powerful, and the life force must be stronger. Lastly thanks to John for info about juicing, interesting tonote that the thinner juice is more easily absorbed. Thanks Anne
Guest guest
Hi Anne, Well I'm going from memory here in something i'm not too well versed in...perhaps I should find my lab report analysis...but here goes. My ND put me on adrenal support, it's DSF Formula by Nutri-West. She says its the best on the market she's found and my Chiropractor/Kenesiologyst says the same. I take one at 11 am and one at 3 pm or so. It seems it's not a matter of controlling cortisol, but a matter of getting all other hormones in place at proper percentages to each other so the cortisol can settle down. So there are three parts to estrogen - Estrone, Estradiol. and Estriol. The firt two should be at 20% each and the last at 60%. I had 5/10 of a percent of the one that should be at 60%. Pretty low. My testosterone was very high as it was trying to compensate for the low Estriol. My progesterone was at the high end of great - because I supplement with cream - DHEA was right on, and the cortisol was VERY high for the morning which is when I did the test. So 5 hormones cost me $150. But now I know where I am and I'm getting better. Now according to my ND, cortisol should not be that high in the morning and because of my sleep patterns, she was fairly sure (best she could do with out another test to show where cortisol is in pm) She said that the cortisol is the hormone that is there to give us a " jump " when we start to slump. If the adrenals are manufacturing cortisol all the time, because it needs to make up for other hormone deficiencies, when we go into that " slump " , there's nothing more the adrenals can do because they're already giving as much cortisol as possible. So then, because cortisol is so high, we can't sleep well, and we need to get to the 4th level of sleep in order for our bodies to go into the healing/repairing mode. Part of what the lab narative said was that all this somehow also interferes with the cells ability to pick up and properly use blood sugar. Therefore an insulin resistant diabetic state may be imminent if not already a factor. And so here is my diet. I have done the Atkins " diet " , but didn't feel right on it....no carbs first 14 days means no veggies...I didn't do well with that. Then I tried the Protein Power " diet " which is less restrictive, but still didn't feel right for me. Now recently I read Suzanne Somers books and bought her tapes. I am now doing that program and feel really very good. Here's the premise: protien/fats (with lots of veggies) when eaten with no carbos added does not get stored as fat. The only time food is stored as fat is when sugar/carbs (even complex ones) are added to a meal containing fats or protein. If carbs/sugars are present when fats/protien is eaten, the pancreas is signaled to release insulin. Insulin is the factor that causes storage of fat. If one eats only carbs (with lots of veggies) with no protien, only the carbs will be stored as fuel and if not used, converted to the fat cells. When protein/fat is eaten with no carbs, insulin is not released and the protein/fat is used as fuel, but not stored as fat. When the body needs more fuel and it is getting mostly fat/proteins (and plenty of veggies), then it begins to call upon its fat stores for energy/fuel. So weight loss occurs, but only if hormones are in proper balance. If not, weight loss may be slower or non existant. So if high cortisol levels lead to insulin resistant diabetes, that means that my body is already not funtioning well with insulin which may be because I have always mixed carbs and proteins/fats at meals??? So I figure if I can get the inuslin factor under control, give my adrenals support, get hormones in proper balance, then all will be working well. I am using a natural progesterone cream and a natural estrogen replacement cream. After three weeks now, I am sleeping all night most of the time with occasional night sweat, and only 1 -2 hot flashes during daytime hours. Because I am sleeping at a deeper level, I believe my adrenals will have a better chance to heal more quickly. My adrenals were just about to shut down. I had recieved a lot of releif from OPCs but still knew something was missing. With my adrenals now beginning to build again, I am feeling more like I did when I was 35 then I have been feeling the last 7 years since 45 hit. So I'm excited for my future health adventures. Did I answer your question? If not, I sure rambled on a long time. blessings francie Gettingwell, " Vanadeux " <vanadeux@e...> wrote: > BlankHello to Francine and other new membes. Sensitive nervous system often may indicate lack of some trace minerals. Francie
