Guest guest
Sugar and grains cause your body to produce insulin and high insulin levels are the single largest physical cause of accelerated aging. If you want to slow down aging and stay healthy then you need to change your grains for greens. http://www.mercola.com/2001/dec/29/aging.htm _____________ Get the FREE email that has everyone talking at http://www.mail2world.com

Of course we all want to do that. Getting the changes made is a bit of trouble at times. I just got a blood insulin test. When searching for " blood insulin " , it appears that the internet and most writers thing that " blood insulin " is the same as " blood glucose " . I did fine a small amount of information on Dr. Mercola's site. While I am not a diabetic, my daughter is, and many of my friends are also. Thus I have been trying to take all the steps to " not become " a diabetic. Seems my daughter had collected a drawer full of the glucose testers. She gave me a nice one. I as a bit irritated when I had to pay near $ 60.00 to get the supplies to test glucose. Generally, I have been pleased with the readings. from 110 to 83 and the lowest is 81. These are not fasting readings, but just randomized readings. Once after a big meal...... too much food, about 2 hours after eating, I got a reading of 170. I have read most of Dr. Mercola's pages relative to insulin. I especially liked the part about primitive man and his use of insulin. If you are anyone has any links about " blood insulin " , I would like to know about them. My blood insulin reading was 5.0 Dr. Mercola says a reading of less than 6.5 is ideal. The range from my lab was 3.0 to 22.0 Wayne
Guest guest
Something I just learned about myself is connected to this also. I had my saliva tested for hormone levels. It was found that, among other abnormalities, I had high coritsol levels. What that means, in part, is that high levels of cortisol do not allow the cells to properly use the insulin being produced by the pancreas; therefore, causing adrenals to go into over production which in turn causes cortisol to br continually produced. Cortisol being constantly produced in high levels allows for free radical damage to be rampant. High cortisol levels are called " killer hormone " by some and it is beleived that getting cortisol levels to normal also add to longevity. I notice tention/stress is much more difficult to deal with when any sugars, including complex carbs, are present in my diet WHEN eaten at the same meal with fats or protein. I have benefited in that respect from the " protein/limited carb diet " . Actually I don't like to call it a diet. What I have found is that if I eat fats and proteins together with NO carbs at a meal, and I eat ONLY carbs with NO fat or proteins, at another meal *(usually early in am) I do pretty good. I eat lots and lots of veggies (most green) and I eat 2 or 3 servings of fruit too, but only by itself and on an empty stomach. It works for me and my borderline-insulin-resistant diabetes is controlled. My husband is not borderline, but has struggled significantly with high blood sugar for many years. He now controls his with this way of eating also, when he chooses to do so. But I am wondering, if my cortisol levels, and other hormones were all within normal ranges of each other, would cortisol and blood sugar even be an issue. I am also taking adrenal support which has very much helped my energy levels.
