Guest guest
Hello Joanne, I had quite a serious heart attack with no prior symptoms in March of 99 at the age of 48. I believed I was reasonably healthy, but did have some other challenges as well. I find your information about ginger facinating. I have too many red blood cells which cause my blood to stick together and clot easily. I have been using a liquid, isotonic vit. b 12 to mitigate or normalize my red blood cell count, and it has been working. Do you have any information as to " how " the ginger works? I know it is an anti inflamitory agent (poltices of it have helped my husbands arthritis tremendously during flareups) but is it perhaps high in vit b 12? As a blood thinner, has it been compared to what the MDs use...the rat poison, I can't think of it's name off hand?? oh, cumadin. I have also come to the conclusion for myself anyway, that if my arteries and veins are healthy, the cholesterol/placque will not be able to stick to them. That then has translated to me that cholesterol is not an issue, that artery health is the issue?? Any thoughts on that? I still have high cholesterol, that runs in my family, but I have clear ateries now, even at the location where the stent was placed. Much of that I also attribute to using OPCs which are the SUPER antioxitdents. They are pine bark, grape seed, and red wine extract. Together, they are supposed to be synergistically 20 times more potent that vit c and 50 times more potent than vit e, or visa versa. They are supposed to, and in my case I see evidence that they have, stop the free radical cascading and help restore healthy cells. There are other supplements I take and quite frankly it gets more than a little pricey, but at the same time, I would rather pay now and be healthy then to pay later from illness, even tho my insurance pays later and I pay now. Anyway, look forward to more great info such as you have provided here. Guest guest
---Francies, I have to admit that I had quite the opposite experience...I had a deficiency of red blood cells, causing problems transporting the proper oxygen around to and from my heart and yes the B-vitamins are SOooo important in that regards. I have taken B-12 with good success also. :-) I'm so sorry to hear that you're experiencing heart problems at an early age. My problems didn't surface until my late fifties. I attributed them in part to menopause, but after realized how closely linked they were to diet/nutritional factors. I'm fascinated with your success in using the OPC's. I take the grape seed extract in an antioxidant blend. As for the cholesterol scare...that has long been my pet peeve hon. I truly believe that this is a term fabricated by the pharmaceutical companies to market their toxic drugs! If you'll notice in the Statin drug commercials...in fine print at the bottom it says... " This product will not prevent heart attack or cardiovascular disease, " but seemingly that's the way it's marketed! Also when studying cholesterol, you will notice that dietary cholesterol is not translated directly into blood cholesterol as the Framingham study so aptly indicates! Although saturated fats have gotten a bad rap, I am of the opinion that only the " plastic " transfats created in the lab are linked to heart disease. Among the natural fats are eggs which are God's most perfect food, containing lecithin which readily assimilates the minute amounts of cholesterol found in the yolks. Eggs also contain selenium which is a great cancer preventive. I also buy the better vitamins, for what price can you put on your health? When it's gone, you have nothing, in my mind. cholesterol only collects in the arteries when there are free radicals circulating around in them! The liver sends cholesterol to form like a bandage over the scarring from the free radical damage. This is the way the body has of protecting itself from these foreign food addtives and environmental toxins that end up in our bloodstream! Those who cite cholesterol as the culprit don't really understand the way cholesterol is processed in our bodies. Cholesterol is the starting point for many of our bodily hormones. If there isn't enough cholesterol in your diet from good natural foods, it can wreak havoc on your hormones and " cause " cancer and hormone related disease such as breast cancers and prostate cancers. Cholesterol is not a dangerous substance as some would have us to believe. It's the transfats that cause free radical damage and cause artery blockages in a roundabout way as described above. The medical profession is constantly looking for something to blame for heart attacks. They have many and varied names for these substances,...Richard Passwater states that heart attacks per se are caused by a lack of nutrition. He states that what we should be working for is rather " Supernutrition " , rather than singling out one substance for the sole cause of heart attack! I eat many berries and fruits highest in antioxidant content! Blueberries is highest in antioxidants...followed by various other berries such as raspberries, etc. Ginger is a " hot " substance and works in relatively the same way as cayenne. I have found the supplements to work the best for blockages. It is widely found in Indian cuisine right along with the cayenne. Ginger root is a good source also. I have some more specific information on it around somewhere.:-) I wanted to respond to your post this evening, although I will get back with you on the ginger. I had no indication before my heart attack either! It came on me suddenly also! But I will say that I became extremly aware of my diet afterward! Guest guest
Joanne, It is SO wonderful to communciate with someone who has the same understandings that I do! thank you so much. As I read, I nodded my head and smiled!. Here is a lady who knows the same things I do and it feels good. I get so VERY frustrated with freinds and family who will not use what seems to be common sense in these matters. Something you stated that few seem to know is that cholesterol is necessary for our brains to produce Prenenolone which is the mother of, or the precursor of ALL hormones. And when we lower our intake of fat and cholesterol containing, whole and natural foods, our liver simply makes more anyway, unless we add the cholesterol lowering meds that shut down that part of our livers???? Just doesn't make sense to me that folks or doctors would want to do that. You know what is interesting is that whether we have too many or too few red blood cells, apparently, with our experiences, the outcome is the same or similar. Having too many red blood cells, mine were sticking together and not moving enough to pick up the oxygen properly, so even tho plenty of cells were reaching my heart, etc., they were devoid proper oxygenation which was what caused them to form the clot. Now, hormones are one of my favorite subjects. I believe that a huge part of the heart attack I had was a direct result of Hormone Replacement Therapy. It's a long story, and it's been a while since I've organized it all in my head, but when we put those pharmecueticals in our bodies, our body doesn't quite know how to handle them. They are very similar to the REAL thing, but the molecules are slightly " off " . HRT affects the way the heart works, because it upsets all the hormones, the pancreas, the thyroid, the pituitary, and the pineal glands. I am finally on NHRT and am finally feeling healthier than I have for several years. Only one or two hot flashes a day instead of two - three an hour. NO night sweats. Sleeping all night!!! How often we don't understand what we have until we lose it. thank you so much for your post. Lookig forward to the info on gingr. Blessings Francie PS. the OPCs I use, in isontic form, are only available through one source, at least for the next 15 years while the patent on the extraction methods and formulation are in place. Guest guest
---Francie, Greetings! I found some information concerning the ginger in regards to Angina and other cardiovascular/heart problems. In " The Green Pharmacy " by James A Duke Ph.D....formerly with the USDA as a botanist specializing in medicinal plants. He has been named the " World's foremost authority on healing herbs. " This is what he says... After my USDA colleague persuaded me to explore ginger's anti-angina benefits, I read that it was endorsed for heart attack prevention in " Ginger: Common Spice and Wonder drug " , by New England herbalist Paul Schulick. He notes that an Israeli cardiology clinic now recommends a daily half-teaspoon of powdered ginger. It seems that ginger is an antioxidant that offers the blood vessels some protection against the damage caused by cholesterol. Ginger also boosts the strength of heart muscle tissue, similar to the medication digitalis. If I had angina, I would take ginger regularly and use it in cooking! Ginger contains zingibain, a special kind of proteolytic enzyme that has the ability to chemically break down protein. Adolph's meat tenderizer works because it contains this kind of enzyme. Proteolytic enzymes, of which there are several besides zingibain, also play an additional role in controlling autoimmune diseases. They help reduce blood levels of compounds known as immune complexes, high levels of which activate the immune system to attack the body itself, ultimately leading to tissue damage. Paul Schulick suggests that zingibain, which comprises as much as 2 percent of fresh ginger root, is as powerful an enzyme as the bromelain in pineapple or the papain in papaya. He insists that ginger is one of nature's richest sources of proteolytic enzymes, containing approximately 180 times more than the papaya plant! Guest guest
Hi JoAnn I just got around to reading your 12/30/01 post concerning your use of the Strauss heart drops. You say that you attribute your success with improving your arterial health, to other factors besides the drops. You mention ginger as having done you much good; also garlic. Garlic is a regular part of my daily diet, in every salad. I've not yet figured out how best to bring ginger into daily use. What have you found to be the most effective method of introducing ginger into your diet? You also mentioned your " surgery. " Was this bypass surgery? I wonder if you'd be willing to comment, in a general way, about your reaction to the Strauss heart drops. I suffer from a particularly stubborn case of angina, and struggle daily to find ways of coping with this problem. So far, I've not had either bypass or angioplasty, but have tried to deal with my angina with medication and natural methods. So far, no change. best wishes John P. - " mrsjoguest " <joguest Sunday, December 30, 2001 6:48 AM Re: Fwd: Shipping Strauss Heart Drops > ---Good Morning All! > Well actually...speaking in the role of one who has " cleared " my > arteries. :-) After much agonizing research, I have come to the > conclusion that although I took most of those herbs/supplements that > are in the Strauss proprietary blend, I must attribute much of my > success to some other things I did also. > I'm surprised someone hasn't mentioned Ginger for fluid arteries. > Ginger, both the natural root (grated to use in stirfries, etc),teas, > and supplemental ginger played a very unique role in the reversal of > my arterial blockage.
