Guest guest
So how does one figure out " optimum nutrition " anyway? How did the FDA figure out all of the RDA amounts? Mindy
Guest guest
Evening Mindy, >So how does one figure out " optimum nutrition " anyway? How did the FDA >figure out all of the RDA amounts? I think " FDA " and " RDA " are two bad words. How did you manage to use them both in the same sentence? <grin> I have never paid much attention to any RDA. Many of these have been set for years, not based on any scientific fact. Generally, these very small amounts are intended to keep a healthy individual from developing deficiency diseases. ..... not promote excellent health. What is more puzzling is they fact that many nutrients exist whereas they have no RDA set. What about salt, potassium, vit c, vit e, and others? Surely no one accepts these Ridiculous Daily Allowances. Now I see a new term that is replacing RDA on some labeling. As to how they set these values, I think they used a roulette wheel after some wild and drunken party. Wayne
