You don't need a prescription for it but do have to ask your pharmacy for it. If they don't have it ask them to order it for you, this cream will help I'm sure. Very expensive about $20.00, but it leaves a barrier on your skin that will keep protecting. If the above cream fails for some reason then there is an herbal product you can try. I feel the above product will suit your condition better but " Crack Cream " is also wonderful. It's very liquidy but will leave calloused or rough cracking skin incredibly smooth. Sells for about $5.00 to & 6.00. This product can be found on the shelves in the foot care aisle. Good luck! Kandi
Guest guest
Lois, I can help you. For once I have a solution to a problem that I have actually had myself. My father was a jeweler and had this condition and I also became a jeweler and had the same painful thing happen to me. My fingers would crack open and it hurts so much you can't even button a shirt. So heres what worked for us every single time. Get white cotton gloves (usually at any drug store) and at night wash your hands with warm water (if you can stand it) if its too painful, just skip the washing. The get some plain mentholatum and slather it quite thickly then have someone help you put the white gloves on so as to keep as much of the mentholatum on your fingertips as possible. Wear them all night and in the morning they will be greatly improved but you will need to keep this up until they heal well. This does not hurt even when applied to open sores. It's very soothing and it works surprisingly fast too. After they heal, do this whole thing again at the very first sign of dryness and cracking and you will prevent them from getting real bad again. I sure hope this works for you, I know how painful this can be. Guest guest
For years I have had a problem with cracked fingertips and lips. I was a flight attendent for 27 years and always thought it was related to dry air as well as constantly washing my hands. I have been retired for over 8 years (living in Arizona)and this condition is worsening. I have not isolated it to anything in particular. I have also not been able to find anything that worked to help the problem other than a liquid purple dye product that was unattractive and bothersome to use. It is extremely painful - relate it to having very deep paper cuts. Lately I have been going to bed with various products (vasoline, vit e, jojoba, etc)and gloves. Can anyone help me? Guest guest
Neosporin also works to take care of this symptom and it has an antibiotic in it. Hopefully you have gone to your doctor to find the cause, hypothyroid can be one reason for dry hair, skin etc. Gettingwell, " loish444 " <loishansen@e...> wrote: > For years I have had a problem with cracked fingertips and lips. > I was a flight attendent for 27 years and always thought it was > related to dry air as well as constantly washing my hands. > I have been retired for over 8 years (living in Arizona)and this > condition is worsening. > I have not isolated it to anything in particular. You won't find it in a Pharmacy or in a Health Food Store. You might find it in a local Farm Supply Store if they have Dairy Cows where you live. Doing an internet search will get you many places to purchase on-line or via mail-order. It is called " Bag Balm " & is meant for chapped udders of cows, which must be washed twice a day, even in the winter, when they are milked. Bag Balm was invented in Vermont where the winters are cold & udders chap easily. My Physical Therapist turned me on to Bag Balm. For 3 months I could not wash my feet or use any foot lotions because of a diabetic foot ulcer. When my foot finally healed, I had these thick dry calluses on my feet. I slathered my feet in Bag Balm, then put on white athletic socks & went to bed. In the morning I rubbed off the balm which had not absorbed into my skin. After 3 days, 90% of the calluses were gone. Now I use the bag balm once or twice a month for maintenance. It was under $10. I cannot guarantee it will work on your fingers, but I suspect it would help. Guest guest
If you can't find the Bag Balm look for " Udderly Smooth " udder cream. It is sold in many chain drugstores and is for the hands and body. It is on the internet. ron _____________ Get the FREE email that has everyone talking at http://www.mail2world.com <> > > Alobar > 12/19/2001 11:46:26 AM > Gettingwell > Re: Cracked Finger tips > > > - > " loish444 " > To: > Wednesday, December 19, 2001 7:44 AM > Cracked Finger tips > > > > For years I have had a problem with cracked fingertips and lips. > > I was a flight attendent for 27 years and always thought it was > > related to dry air as well as constantly washing my hands. > > I have been retired for over 8 years (living in Arizona)and this > > condition is worsening. > > I have not isolated it to anything in particular. Guest guest
Alobar, What is neuropathy? My husband has diabetes and has very bad problems with his feet but his regular doctor never helps him at all. Somedays he can barely walk. I appreciate any info I can get to help him. Also his triglycerides are at 561 when they should be around 150. The only help the doctor offered was to say " stop eating fattening stuff. " My husband is quite overweight (about 400 lbs and 6' 3 " ) and if it were that simple, there would be no overweight people. Stress and anxiety make it nearly impossible to for him to stop eating his comfort foods. Guest guest
Thanks so much Greg, Not only for the nutritional advice but for the kind, understanding words. My husband is by far the greatest human being I have ever known and has a heart far bigger than his body. I know his self esteem is suffering terribly. He is Filipino and everyone else in his family is small and skinny and they always say little digs and nasty comments about his weight everytime they see him, as though his weight problem is some sort of character flaw. He is truly trying to stop eating his favorites (like Kentucky fried chicken) He used to have that 2 to 3 times a week but he hasn't had that in months so that is one big change for him. He has taken to snacking on Jicima and that's a good thing too. I will definitely implement the suggestions you made. He wants to change and if I could love him into being well he would be the healthiest person around. Thanks again, Arizona > Hi Arizona, > I know you know his is not a well possum. > The only real solution is to reduce his necessity to eat AND to give him a > lot more veggies and less meat of any kind. > I suggest you try to serve at least 2 - 3 serves a week of lightly grilled > salmon. Guest guest
Hello, Aloe Vera might be helpful for this. It has been extremely effective for dermatitis and various skin rashes. It might be worth a try. Remember, however, that there is a world of difference in various brands on the market. Be sure and note the strength of the product before purchasing.:-) Good Luck. The only real solution is to reduce his necessity to eat AND to give him a lot more veggies and less meat of any kind. I suggest you try to serve at least 2 - 3 serves a week of lightly grilled salmon. Also try to swap out any white flour products for whole grain ones. Chuck out ALL veggie oil based products except extra virgin olive oil. Try to slowly reduce fried foods and thus to reduce the need to use fats for frying. Maybe one new food to REPLACE one old food per 2 weeks. Go for long walks at sunset. Kiss and hug a lot. And no it is not simple as most overweight folks are also suffering from some form of depression or lost self respect. Food will not fix this, only a loving heart will do the trick. ======================== Good Health & Long Life, Greg Watson, gowatson USDA database (food breakdown) http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/ PubMed (research papers) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi DWIDP (nutrient analysis) http://www.walford.com/dwdemo/dw2b63demo.exe Patch file for above http://www.walford.com/download/dwidp67u.exe KIM (omega analysis) http://ods.od.nih.gov/eicosanoids/KIM_Install.exe
