Donna,

here's a quote I found while doing a web search for your dilemma....

" Dear Ladies,

I am preparing to write a book on fingernails and was thrilled to find this page

thru misspelling a search word. I hope and pray I can find it again.

Ridges in nails can be caused by many things.

If your nails are fragil with horizonal and vertical ridges, you are probably

lacking the B vitamins. Stress or medications may be making it difficult to

absorb your suppliments. Try taking some essential fatty acids and spirulina

which are rich in Vitamin B, zinc and silica.

It is reported that vertical ridges are the result of poor general health and

nutrition. Horizonal ridges can result from severe stress, physical or mental. I

have had this and after I divorced the cause, I eventually grew my lovely nails

back. "

and another:

" I discovered that when taking Flaxseed oil my thumbnails grew out normally.

When living in Hawaii for 4 months I noticed my nails grew out normally also. It

was a stressful job, but looking back at my diet in the Islands I remember

eating more fatty foods and drank NO tea.

Lipton tea that is. "

(mindy's note: I'm sure herbal tea is fine though...!)

quotes are from http://fingernailcare.com/forum/data/32.html
