I checked the site given for borage oil and only one of the of the borage oil

supplements gave the GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) content. (the Twinlab Ultra 300

60). The others gave the borage oil content (1,000). So, when you purchase

borage oil capsules, make sure it gives you the *GLA* content. Should be 300 mg

per capsule. BTW, the *sale* price of the Twin Ultra 300 was more costly than

the one I bought at my local HFS.

Swanson's has a selection of Q10 (all potencies) that seem to run about

..007-.008 cents per mg.

I don't remember how that compares to previous posts.

Good selection of Borage oil too.

Sort of off topic, though Omega Nutrition tells me they have been

selling the borage pellets they end up with, after having pressed the

oil out, to the State of Washington to help feed the deer in winter

in burnt out areas of forest. They say the deer eagerly gobble it up.

I don't know if the deer are simply that desperate for feed, or if

they really do like the left over borage product. I have even less

of an idea of how nutritional it is for the deer. I can't imagine it

alone being a very nutritionally complete feed. Though hey if you're

a starving deer out there in the winter I guess something is better

than nothing at all.

I know I took some home to try on the horses. I tasted it myself.

(It is certified organic.) It is very bitter tasting. My guys said

no way Jose, but then they are sort of used to the best of everything.

Omega also sells this left over borage stuff as a garden additive to

help enrich the soil. A tad pricey for my pocket though, especially

considering I have tons of free horse manure.

Just an FYI moment,

Vache

Hi Lynn,

I do believe that your friend might be misinformed. You see, Borage has PA's ( please don't ask me to spell this one again LOL) just like Comfrey. However, the oil does not.

To the best of my knowledge Borage oil is quite safe. However, everything in moderation and using common sense.

[herbal remedies] borage oil

Dose anyone here know anything about borage oil causing liver or kidney damage? I never have, but that friend of mine says she read it somewhere. Can't remember where she read it though. I did a search on the net on borage oil but found nothing about liver or kidney damage. I was wondering if any of you have heard of it. Thanks in advance.

Many Blessings

Lynn
