Guest guest
Evening John, You make some very good points. Yes, often I eat apples, oranges, grapes, bananas, and all other produce that is in season. This does effect the amount of water I drink and the frequency. >Clearly, if you drink large amounts of water, you'll experience a greater >sense of fullness, which will discourage overeating. Somehow..... it seems to effect the energy output also. One thing I could not understand in the water book, was the statements about how the brain uses water for energy. >My alternative doctor, advised people to eat a diet composed almost entirely >of foods which contain huge amounts of water (fruits, vegetables), and, if >you did that, he felt you could depend on your natural desire for additional >water, without making a point of drinking it. Logical indeed, and I don't disagree. However I don't live in the garden or Eden and have to work. Often I have a bottle of water with me, and if my energy feels a bit low, or I feel hungry, I will simply drink water. I feel there may be a danger in doing this. My water drinking has worried me at times. Even before I read the water book, quit drinking coffee and cokes, I drank more water than anyone I knew. When I was in my 20's .... and in the military, my friends stated they never saw me without a canteen in my hand. Once I read something about some disease or disorder causing one to drink too much water and stay thirsty all the time. Maybe this was diabetes. Of course I would be interested in hearing more about this. In the meantime, water has served me so well, I am afraid to tamper with a system that is working. I fear I may not be getting enough minerals. I hope to start adding a few things to the water. Possibly not to 100% of the water I drink, maybe only 50 %. Considering all the pesticides, contaminated food, and generally bad processed food, the water has to be the lesser of the evils that exist. Back to your main idea ....... I eat as much raw stuff as I can get my hands on, and/or as much as I have time to eat. When working for a number of hours, one cannot always eat the fresh fruit and produce. Often there is no food available except what I carry in my truck. I keep trailmix, protein wafers, and protein bars at all times. All day today, I kept thinking about a protein bar. Still as I worked and moved from building to building, I would eat only an ounce or so of trailmix and drink water. This kept me feeling great all day with no low energy or need for any other food. I plan to have another blood analysis before the end of the year. Maybe I can get some ideas of what I need to change at that time. Any ideas, suggestions, or criticism are always welcome. One last thought. Often I go 12, to 14 hours without eating. Only on very rare occasions do I feel an energy problem, and then it is very slight. Just today, I got everything I need to monitor my blood glucose. I don't have any problems that I know of, still.... I may test this at extreme intervals without food. Also, I want to see how it looks at short intervals after I eat normal meals. One thing for certain..... the few times I have felt slightly bad is always after I eat a conventions meal with cooked foods that Americans normally eat. This may be telling me something. Simply never eat such meals. Wayne
Guest guest
Dear Wayne, Please would you explain what 'trailmix' is? I live in Australia and have never heard of it! Yesterday my husband took out half a wall and the ceiling in our kitchen (remodel), so we ate dinner at MIL's house. Silly me, I ate garlic bread (that had margarine, not butter), and within an hour I could feel it in my back. It is hard to describe, but I really do think that if I eat too much hydrogenated oils, I can feel it in my back, which for some reason is the first place I feel ills. -- Mindy ----------------------- " ...that they may be one... This is very strange - I have not eaten anything but butter or olive oil for the last few days and reading your email suddenly made me think that my back was nowhere near as bad as it has been - coincidence or not?? I will have to keep an open mind on this one. Marianne
