Guest guest
Evening Everyone, We have had a number of messages and ideas relative to the daily potassium requirement. As much as I try, I don't think I get enough. Often my daily total is from 1200 mg to 1600 mg. I eat fruits, nuts, trailmix, lots of pecans, and one to two bananas per day. Possibly I am underestimating my daily intake. I don't weigh all the servings. Of course I have some of the 99mg mini-pills. I don't use these because it really makes my blood boil when I look at the 99mg. Many of my friends are using prescription potassium. One is paying $ 76.00 for 180 tablets that are 20 mEQ which is about 825 mg. Why they want to use this unit, mEq is beyond my imagination. Likely it serves to confuse the already confused public. I have two kinds of sea salt, potassium chloride, and potassium nitrate in my stock. Typically, I use the potassium nitrate for plant food only, but have considered using it for my daily intake because I have about 25 pounds of it. More research is required before I try this. As I use the search engines for potassium using logical string combinations, I end up with many plant nutrient sites. Solving this potassium puzzle gets more confusing as I go along, thanks for the control of potassium as a nutrient. The product called " no salt " which is primarily potassium chloride looks promising. I considered mixing 50 % sea salt and 50% " no salt " . Likely I should quit worrying about it and use 2 to 4 of the E-Mergency C packets per day. Each has 200 mg of potassium. I wonder how that got past the FDA? Check the next disturbing message about " NO SALT " . Wayne

Guest guest
Morning Mindy, >What's the difference between potassium chloride and potassium nitrate? Potassium Nitrate is a water soluble nutrient used for feeding plants. When mixing plant nutrient solution, I vary the ppm from 200 to 450 ppm, depending on the growth stage and variety of the plant. I have never know it to be used as a human nutrient. Possibly it can be as nitrates are not as bad for humans as we have been led to believe. Dr. David Williams states that nitrates and saliva combined can in fact suppress and eliminate all ( or most ) forms of food poisoning.
