I agree with David that these system contagions, while not technically viruses, are still worth taking seriously. My anti-virus program will automatically alert me to a virus (and has in the past). Just to be on the safe side, I updated and rescanned...nothing. We have had mass panic over this trojan program before. It is very simple to remedy and an incident like this does not require hysteria, only a bit of education and caution. Please read and forward to everyone you know...... DO NOT OPEN " NEW PICTURES OF FAMILY " It is a virus that will erase your whole " C " drive. It will come to you in the form of a E-mail from a familiar person. I repeat a friend sent it to me, but called & warned me before I opened it. He was not so lucky and now he can't even start his computer! Forward this to everyone in your address book. I would rather receive this 25 times than not at all. Also, Intel announced that a new very destructive virus was discovered recently. If you receive an email called " FAMILY PICTURES, " do not open it. Delete it right away! This virus removes all dynamic link libraries(.dll files) from your computer. Your computer will not be able to boot up. PASS THIS ON TO ANYONE YOU HAVE AN E-MAIL ADDRESS FOR. If you receive an email titled: " It Takes Guts to Say Jesus " DO NOT OPEN IT. It will erase everything on your hard drive. This information was announced yesterday morning from IBM; AOL states that this is a very dangerous virus, much worse than " Melissa, " and that there is No Remedy for it at this time. Some very sick individual has succeeded in using the reformat function from Norton Utilities causing it to completely erase all documents on the hard drive. It has been designed to work with Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer. It destroys Macintosh and IBM comnpatible computers.
