When I was told I had hashimotos, I couldn't figure out how those symptom-opposites could present themselves in the same body. They did and I was very ill from it. It was a long time ago, but I was thin and ate like a horse, I was weak, i think anemic, brain was in a fog, my eyes would just " stare " alot, felt hyper and hypo at the same time, just to name a few. I was a mess! But let me share with you, get your adrenals checked! I've been suffering from that since childhood and the thyroid/adrenal symptoms can run hand in hand. Guest guest
Thanks Terri - I can now go to my GP (who admits that he does not know much about thyroid) and get him to check out hashimotos - let's hope that something is then sorted...... Guest guest
Unfortunately - having the National Health Service, we have problems with getting these things checked on our say so - the GP has to send us for these tests and money is always the main stumbling block in this, I also could not afford to go privately - tests like this would cost in the region of £1,000 and up - the GP will also suggest that if I am able to diagnose myself, why am I wasting his time - obviously they don't like to think that we can help ourselves. I once asked him to check out MSM & Noni Juice for me, took the leaflets with me for him to look at and............. he almost threw me out of his surgery. Does not want to know anything remotely 'alternative' = you will take these drugs and poison your body for the rest of your life or leave my surgery = seems to be the general feeling here among our GP's. Guest guest
You will probably get more help from this list In a message dated 01/20/11 2:40:28 AM, marianne2406 writes: << Thanks Terri - I can now go to my GP (who admits that he does not know much about thyroid) and get him to check out hashimotos - let's hope that something is then sorted...... I am however, taking on board all that I am learning from this list and intend to print it all out and study it and go with what I feel is right for me and keep going until I have it sorted. It takes so long for the GP to arrange an appointment with a specialist here, I will probably be cured before the appointment comes through. Thank you all for your wonderful input.
