Hi Donna, Like Aspirin and other NSAIDs, they all work by inhibiting the Omega 6 AA derived proinflammatory eicosanoids and proteins. Too much inhibiting is bad and can reduce your bodies ability to respond to a real need for attack. The Omega intakes which were developed by the US working committee take all this into account and it is why I caution against too much EPA & DHA. That said, folks with bad inflammation related diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis do need mega doses of EPA & DHA. If you are healthy and want to improve your health further then I suggest you follow the recommendations: Omega 6 LA < 7 g Omega 3 LNA ~ 2.2 g (1 tablespoon of ground flax) Omega 3 EPA + DHA ~ 0.6 g in total (1 serve of fatty fish OR 2 standard fish oil capsules) The interrelationship between the Omegas is quite complex and the above mix gets it right (in my opinion). Via processing we get concentrated Omega 6 LA oils, which never occur in nature. The US working committee recommendations are to limit daily intake of Omega 6 LA to less than 7 g which means you probably need to eliminate the use of Omega 6 LA rich oil based products. Here is a good graphic example of the fat content of various oils: http://www.freshhempfoods.com/nutrition/comp-table.html Greg
