Guest guest
On the L glutamine topic. L glutamine is great for helping the body to release growth hormone. As we age, our pituitary gets stingey and tho it still produces youthful levels of gh, it doesn't release youthful levels of gh. It holds onto it. And so we age. Frown. But l glutamine helps the pituitary release more youthful levels of growh hormone and you get all the benefits of that. Increased muscle mass, smoother skin. All the benefits that I mentioned before regarding colostrum. You don't get the immune factors that colostrum has, but you get the growth hormone benefits. And it is pretty inexpensive. I have a customer who is an older guy, 70-ish who has been getting l glutamine from me for a number of years and he does really well on it. His skin looks younger and he has more endurance and sleeps better. For a person of normal health, l glutamine can be a great thing. BUT for a person with cfs it can be a problem. I tried taking it because I was learning about the benefits of growth hormone and did not know about colostrum at that time, and had an inexpensive source for l glut, so I tried it. I was elated the first few days and weeks. I did really well on it and then suddenly, I crashed horribly. Apparently, if you have cfs, l glutamine can reduce levels of another nutrient, sorry I can't remember what it is, and the result is a major crash. Fortunately for me, the crash was short lived and getting off the glutamine stopped the problem and I recovered quickly. I was very dissappointed to not be able to take it. But shortly after that I found colostrum and it does work for me, so that is good. The brand I used and my customer uses is NOW Foods. It is a bulk powder and comes in an 8 oz bottle, I believe. Anyway, NOW Foods is available pretty much everywhere and is quite price competitive and on this particular product, the quality is very good. So you might look for that and try it. But, if you have cfs, I would proceed with caution. Blessings Donna
