Guest guest
L-glutamine is an amazing amino acid. I just finished researching it and read a fascinating book on it. It is excellent for rebuilding the bowels in problems of Crohn's Disease, Celiac Disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It has also been shown to significantly help those with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. Typical doses at 4500-5000mg ( about 1 tsp) 30 minutes before meals twice a day. There are numerous other benefits. Let me know if you want to know more. Ken PS...No, Frank, I do not own the rights to L-glutamine nor am I associated in the profits received from anything whatsoever to do with this or any other amino acid. > >Elaine121 [Elaine121] >Saturday, November 10, 2001 11:16 PM >Gettingwell > Amino Acid > > >BlankDoes anyone know what L-Cysteine and L-glutamine is good for >and how to >take it? >Thanks so much. >Elaine > > > >Getting well is done one step at a time, day by day, building health >and well being. > >To learn more about the Gettingwell group, >Subscription and list archives are at: >Gettingwell > >

Guest guest
L-glutamine is one of the key neurotransmitters in the brain. Its related compounds, glutamate and GABA, generally work to slow down things in your body. They accomplish this effect by blocking neurotransmitters that stimulate activity. GABA is very much involved in relaxation and sleep. Antianxiety drugs, such as Valium and the benzos, tap into the GABA system to produce their effects, as does alcohol. Glutamine has a profound effect on the neurons responsible for memory. Some studies suggest that glutamine supplementation is helpful in improving memory in Alzheimer patients. Glutamine is also well known as a substance that boosts immunity and fights infection. You will see many endurance athletes using glutamine for this reason. Many whey protein supplements contain glutamine, which can be a good source for you. Guest guest
--- Ken Woody <kwoody wrote: > L-glutamine is one of the key neurotransmitters in > the brain. My understanding is that L-glutamine is an amino acid that is an important building block for several neurotransmitters. It is not a neurotransmitter itself. Neurotransmitters are special chemicals made and used by the brain cells (neurons) to communicate with each other. L-glutamine is a miracle worker in restoring the structural integrity of the intestines. (Good for leaky gut.) Find a job, post your resume. http://careers.
