The hospital and Poisen Control said I had to go back on the offending drugs, which were Baclofen and Ativan....they designed a taper for me and I have been following it. Baclofen is not a benzo and I don't think substituting Valium would do it........ But any other advice you can give me, I would certainly appreciate. It's just that withdrawal symptoms are so strong usually because hte medicines cause so much pain and damage. I believe that nutrition and supplements are very important as you can ameliorate some of the symptoms, prevent your body from breaking down health wise and rebuilding any damage caused by the benzos and withdrawal. I think that the supplements can shorten the time necessary to healing but sometimes some might even cause some additional severity in your symptoms as you are healing, even though the healing time might be a lot shorter. I said that you might consider switching to a long acting benzo because you said that you thought your muscle problems were from the ativan. Which it very well could be the cause of your muscle problems. Most people on ativan usually expeience going into and out of withdrawal between doses as it has a very short half life. If any of you members are currently taking any benzodiazapine medications or some other neurotropic medications like anti depressants, CNS depressants, pleae beware that these medications can be very damaging to you. Guest guest Posted November 10, 2001 Report Share Posted November 10, 2001 Hi Frank.... Yes, I am a member of all the benzo boards, and I have been to all the sites. Years ago I had a very bad reaction to Valium, so I don't think that is an option to replace the Ativan.....in any advent, I don't have access to any and my current doctor is not very helpfull. Doctors around here don't believe in 'withdrawal'. My previous doctor told me that short-life drugs were NOT addicting because they all left your body in a very few hours and so you were back to normal.
