>>>>>With respect I suggest canola oil

Hi Greg,

i watched an American documentary last year that said that Monsanta was

involved with canola oil, plus a few others, and we were warned NOT to touch

the stuff, unless of course, if we didn't mind eating round-up and other

pesticides.

If you know of a brand that is safe, please let me know.

Sorry about your Mum and Dad, but i bet they are proud of you when they look

down and see how you are doing.

Good luck with your Uni degree.

Regards, Dorothy.

We use Aussie non GM Golden Canola.

I'm experimenting with a extra virgin olive oil and flax oil mix to get the

fatty acid ratios I feel are the best. Once

I get the mix and taste right, I'll mix in some good Aussie butter to make some

margarine like stuff.

Don't ever fry with anything else but olive oil as the heat does bad things to

the Omegas. Even with olive oil, keep

the heat low and cook as short a time as possible.

Hi Brian,

The shorter the chain length the more the fatty acid will survive heating and be

burnt for energy. As chain length

increases less and less is burnt as more and more is stored as fat.

Also as the number of double bonds increase oxidation risk climbs.

Butter actually has more short chain fatty acids than coconut oil and is better

if you must fry, which is not a good way

to cook food. Know about AGE, Browning and Millard reactions which involve bad

glucose & protein bonds?

Actually, the best oil for frying is coconut oil. It is the most

heat-resistant of any oils, as the medium chain fatty acids that are unique

to coconut oil are heat resistant. You don't consume coconut oil for omega

3s though. You have to get that elsewhere. Coconut oil is known for

anti-microbial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties. It is currently

being used successfully in lowering the viral load of AIDS patients. And as

has been mentioned before, it is great for weight-loss because it increases

the body's metabolism.
